[quote]Birmingham boss Steve Bruce is confident of securing the signature of Liverpool striker Emile Heskey at some point this week.
A move has been talked about for some time and Reds boss Gerard Houllier dropped a huge hint following Saturday's draw with Newcastle when suggesting Heskey had played his last game for the club.

Bruce has now confirmed his interest and expects to agree terms this week.

"We are close to agreeing a deal and we hope to complete it within the next 48 hours," said Bruce.

It would appear that Houllier has opted to cash-in on Heskey as he has a ready-made replacement on the way in the form of Auxerre's Djibril Cisse.

Houllier has continually backed Heskey despite the forward failing to fire on a regular basis.

However, with free-scoring Frenchman Cisse likely to be the first-choice partner for Michael Owen, it would appear the Reds chief has opted to move him on.

The signing will be a boost to Blues fans who will be able to look forward to seeing Heskey partner Finnish ace Mikael Forssell next season.

SO WHAT DO YE ALL THINK OF THE HESKEY SITUATION? I DIDNT GET TO SEE THE GAME OR HIGHLIGHTS ON SAT HOW DID HE PLAY? PERSONALLY I SAY SELL HIM! HE HASNT DONE IT CONSISTENTLY OVER THE SEASON AND ONLY PLAYS WELL FOR FIVE OR SIX GAMES A YEAR!

If we can get the 6 million that is being quoted then i say sell him.
We are getting Cisse and have baros and pongolle ready to play up front as well
The eral worry is Owens decision not to sign a new contract yet. hes got only a year left so people will start to get a lil nervous about the whole situation.
Heskey going though will be good for him as well as us as he will get more games with Brummies
good luck to the big man i say

BTW PEOPLE, GOOOLD CISSE SCORED TWICE OVER THE WEEKEND

"Fourth placed Auxerre consolidated their position as Liverpool-bound Djibril Cisse struck twice in a 2-0 win over Nantes."

he's scored 26 goals in the league and 28 overall, not bad at all! hes definitely a goalscorer which i believe heskey wasnt when we signed him! plus cisse will the take some of the pressure from owen in the department and also being more direct than heskey, will contribute to owen scoring more!

I think he should go, I don't hate the guy or anything but I think he'll play well for Birmingham, I personally think that if Heskey had a manager who would shout at him and give him a kick up the ar5e then he could be a fantastic striker but for Liverpool he has only had great games when "he's up for it" like Steven Gerrard said.

Good luck to the lad

im just gonna go mad though if he signs for birmingham, and in some game scores two maybe even a hat-trick if he's that  lucky and we have to listen to the papers saying houllier blunder in letting star striker go, and then some bandwagon pool fans saying "yeah we should never have let him go"

its inevitable that its gonna happen

anyone know exactly how much were getting for him?

£3.5m which will rise to £6m with club and international appearances.

I think that he will play well for Birmingham, I just don't think our style of play suited him.

Heskey joined Liverpool from Leicester City in March 2000 and scored 60 goals in 277 appearances for the Anfield club.
im bored in college (supposed to be studying for exams :D  ) he only has a 22% goal to game ratio!

VERY IMPRESSIVE ACTUALLY:
LEAGUE: 26 goals in 37 league games = 70% goal to game ratio
TOTAL: 28 goals in 44 games = 64%

THATS VERY IMPRESSIVE I MUST ADMIT, HE IS A NATURAL GOALSCORER AND I THINK HE WILL DO VERY WELL FOR LIVERPOOL HE WILL DEFINITLEY SCORE MORE GOALS THAN HESKEY OVER A SEASON!

He's been a good servant and at times we we've seen why we paid 11million.

After the treble season though we didn't see it enough.

Shame, because if he'd played like he did during the treble season we wouldn't never have needed another striker.

He's had his chance and not done enough i'm affraid. I'm thankful for the part he played in the cup treble, without him it wouldn't have been possible and i'm thankfull for some of the games where he has shown his ability.

Just hope to god he doesn't come back to haunt us as we all know he will.

Thank you Emile, goodbye and good luck.
