Let's hope that isn't the case!

Personally I'd probably give Stevie G,Carra and Crouchie a rest for this game and give some of our fringe players i.e Dudek,Warnock,Agger,Hamann & Traore 90 minutes, and possibly some of the youth players (Anderson,Hobbs or Antwi) on the bench?

What's the injury situation regarding Kewell?

???

I think we should put out a squad similar to the one we put out against West Ham. Lets ensure the Cup Final squad is as fresh as possible. It would be good if Kewell can shake off his groin injury.

Something like:

                       Dudek

Kromkamp     Hyypia      Agger     Warnock

    Cisse     Sissoko     Hamann     Riise

               Morientes     Fowler

Physioroom.com have no return date for Kewell. Maybe the final?

After the result today a win is a must against portsmouth if we want to have a chance of getting second place, unless the mancs get beat 5-0 off Charlton then we only need a draw but somehow I don't think thats going to happen

Yes!! Man Ure slipped up. We're only a point behind from Automatic Champions League.....

Just hope Charlton draw & we beat Pompey!

Just think of where we would be if we did not have a problem with our strikers scoring goals this season.
Just think of where we would be if mori had scored even a half of what we was led to believe he was capable of.
And imagine if cassia would have put the ball past the keepers instead of passing to the keepers.
That’s enough of the what ifs

I’m looking forward to next season.
Hopefully with a new striker or 2 and with out mori and cissa.
And the lads we have got will perform for us.
Harry has done well I think good improvement I hope he continues to work well.
Crouch will be at the world cup in hoping that will inspire him.
Sissoko has been doing a grate job I’m glad he got over his eye injury quickly.
The lads we already know will work hard for us i.e.. Gerrard-Alonso-Carragher Hyypia Riise ect ect .

THIS YEAR THE FA CUP NEXT YEAR THE CHAMEIONS LEUGE- PREMERSHIP- THE FA CUP- WE HAVE GOT IT ALL TO PLAY FOR AND WE WILL HAVE TO JUST WAIT AND SEE WHAT THE LADS WILL BRING HOME FOR US .

Van Horseface missed a penalty by all accounts :D ,so it'll be interesting to see the team Rafa now picks for the Pompey game...

Securing a 2nd Place and automatic Champions League spot is something. But knowing that you can get through the play offs and securing income from the broadcasting rights and tickets is the other thing.

Either way its a win win situation for us. Thats why Rafa is very cool about it. No pressure on the lads.

The rest is in order to keep the tournament alive till the end of the season and mostly so that bookies can make some money out of it.

recently Man Ure have relied so much on shrek(i like dat :D) that could find the going tough against charlton. Its possible if he had played(shrek) that the scoeline would have been very different.. something like 2-0 to the mancs.

Anyway someone asked me the other day why would we want to avoid the group stages in the CL while it has its own benefits like:
1.the players get match fitness earlier on before the start of the season
2.new players get to be tested and bond with the others
3.additional revenues to the club

the downside to it is that the players dont get to rest as much as others in the PL and there is always a risk of getting a shock elimination.
