Bob. There's no-one thought of any higher in football circles than Bob Paisley, the most unassuming man to walk through our Hallowed Halls. Never was our success down to Bob, not in his eyes, it was down to the squad, the bootroom, the fans, and no doubt the coach driver at times. Thats not puttin Shanks down, nor any of the others, jus that Bob was jus a normal man in an extraordinary job as far as he was concerned. I've absolutely no doubt he considered himself the luckiest man in Liverpool at every home game, paid to watch his beloved team.
As for ppl thinkin he never had to build a team, he kept the team goin for years, maybe a harder thing to do, truth be known. Livin up to past expectations, carryin the team forward, makin the best deals for the club. And at less than half a million he made the best deal EVER by bringin in Dalglish when Keegan left.
Rafa's worked miracles this last two years, I'd never argue about it. I have little doubt he'll go on to be a big part of our history, a history he's learned alot about in his time here. But ask Rafa and i'm sure he'll say the best ever here were Bob and Bill. And that could be the kind of humility we were used to back then comin back to serve us for the future.
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road

For me it's very dificult to compare Shankly and Paisley.

Shankly was a Messiah, whereas Paisley brought unbridled success.
Shankly was a huge character wheras Paisley was quieter and let his team do the talking.

Either way, our club has been blessed by having both.

managers get judged on their buys and on results and on both it has to be bob paisley for me - he made liverpool like a well oiled machine and made great buys constantly trying to improve the team.
shanks's teams were great players but he showed too much loyalty and waited too long before bringing in fresh blood to improve team. but when he did finally bring in new players he bought some great ones!
