For sure, i think Rafa will easily improve these attributes when he finally gets to melwood.

To be honest Murph I was impressed with some of his defending last night, at one point in the last ten minutes he sprinted 15-20 yards back to help defend and won the ball back  :)

This was the first time I'm seen him, I was excited about him before but now I just can't wait to see him in a red jersey

He's tackling is good and he'd be suitable to be a great LB. He hasnt great dribling when the ball is dead, but he dribbles through speed.

Sabre whats the official situation in regards to his permit to come here. Ive heard 2 things:

1) Hes going to get married and will get the permit anyway through that
2) He will get the permit beacause he has been in Spain for 5 years now?

Do you think his performances have raisd his profile to the FA for brining him in as a player of exectonal talent ?

1) is bóllocks because  his supposed girlfriend is Chilean and that won't get him a Spanish passport

2) Is right, but not because of the 5 years, you need less than that to get a Spanish passport if you are from one of the countries that has double nationality agreement with Spain. Chile is one of those, so is Argentina, and many players have got the passport after being 2 years in Spain. I don't think he'll have troubles to get it, to be honest.

Mikel Alonso crossed the ball. The cross was shitty, as 90% of the stuff he does. The Cross was so cráp, that Casillas decided to get the ball with one hand as he runned to start a counterattack. But his overconfidence was a mistake, he didn't grab the ball, and the ball went loose on front of him. There he was mark, aware, to score the goal. Otherwise Casillas made a great match but that mistake was worth of 2 points.

Mark Gonzalez's performance was great, and highlighted by the Madrid press, who, by the way, has targeted Gerrard now for next year  but that's bóllocks.

This is not the goal against Madrid. It might well be one of the best he scores though in his career..

From SSN.

Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez hailed the performance of prospective signing Mark Gonzalez against Real Madrid last weekend.

The Spaniard hopes the display of the 21-year-old Chile winger, who turned out for Real Sociedad, will provide a timely reminder to the home office of his ability.

The Reds attempted to seal a transfer for the Albacete player last summer but Gonzalez failed to fulfil Department of Employment work permit criteria because Chile are ranked outside of Fifa's top 70 international sides.

Gonzalez has since moved to the San Sebastian outfit on loan and was in inspired form in a 1-1 draw with Real, claiming his side's equalising goal after a slip from Iker Casillas in the 62nd minute.

"He was the best player on the pitch against Madrid and that's three goals he's scored now since he went to Sociedad," said Benitez.

"I said at the time I was surprised by the decision not to allow him to join us.

"When you see the level he is playing at now, it shows we had a good case and what a good player he actually is."

The Reds will reapply for a permit shortly and Benitez believes Gonzalez has all the attributes to become a major asset in The Premiership.

"We are hopeful he will come in the summer because he can be an important player for us," added Benitez.

"He has pace, quality, can score and he works very hard for the whole 90 minutes for the team - all qualities that will help him settle in quickly here.

"You have to remember he was injured for six months and so he is improving with every game he plays, recovering his fitness and raising his level. He can make an impact in The Premiership."

was watching revisita earlier and ballague was re-emphasising again how ridiculous the decision to reject Gonzalez's work permit was when you consider some of the sh#te they've let in. One example was a guy called Atim Sakiri who went to West Brom a couple of years back, despite the fact that Macedonia were nowhere near the top 70 in the world rankings.

I believe he qualifies to apply for an EU passport in June having lived in Spain for 2 years. The key word there is APPLY, he may get turned down or it might just be that the process is longwinded and delayed. I think theres no doubt we will eventually land him, but the concern is that his passport application could drag on into the autumn and beyond.

Aren’t the government introducing a new points system for foreign workers coming into the country? I seem to remember reading that a new category has been devised for sports stars, so it may be easier to get a work permit than last time. Depends when it’s introduced though.
