William gallas - Gone awol

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby stmichael » Mon May 10, 2004 1:11 pm

just read that william gallas has gone awol after a huge bust up with claudio ranieri. the guy now looks likely to leave chelsea in the summer.

now surely if this is true we should make an attempt to sign the guy. he's a top class defender with plenty of pace. in the off chance that mexes does not sign, gallas would be just what we need imo.

do you agree?

Nice idea, where did you get the info St Mick?

I saw him three times this year, and his distribution needs a lot of work, but he could be an excellent coup.

YES from me.

I agree
I would prefer Mexes but gallas would be a welcome back up !
Even if he had a bust up with Raneiri he's off in the summer so he still might stay!

i read this on the bbc website. it looks like chelsea will splash out on at least one more top class defender so gallas' chances might be limited anyway. i heard they were after walter samuel.

as a matter of fact i can see a lot of chelsea players being given the boot in the summer, some of which require observation.

you have to remember who gallas had the arguament with, and that guy wont be at chelsea next season, so Gallas more than likely will. wouldnt mind him at our centre defence tho, would be a good buy

I understand that Samuel is a done deal. His agent was quoted as saying that the offer was "too big to ignore" and that his client was "amazed by the contract on offer".

Terry likely to stay, and Desailly more likely to go.

Gallas has experience playing in premier league and has done really well. I rather spalsh 7 to 8 million on him than to buy another young potential player (Mexes).

Hyppia & Gallas would make an awsome partnership.

Yeah Gallas is a yes from me too, Sami needs a solid defensive partner cos at the moment he looks like his confidence is low cos to be honest the lad hasn't had a perminent partner all season  :(

To be honest either would be sound buys.
I believe Mexes to have a better all round game but Gallas has got Premier experience!
So its a tight choice!

As i said both are sound buys and will only strengthen the team

If we get both Gallas and Mexes then with Gallas we have someone with premiership experience who can play along side Hypia while Mexes settles in. Good comp for places then

I'm not being greedy we need to improve our squad. The cover we have at the moment is not even premiership quality never mind World class.

That Thai bloke is going to be investing in our club and now is the time to get rid of the Sh** and start putting together a decent squad.

We can't expect Mexes to come straight into the team and be able to settle into the english game. But if we had Gallas as well then we can afford to give him time.

we only then need to fork out for a midfielder maybe Malbranque and i think we'll have a good squad for next season.

I don't think we''l have enough to win the premiership next season but if the manager (Hopefully not GH)buys well in the summer of 2005 then we will be there or there abouts.

Well i think we are going to disagree here but i think one centre half is plenty Henchoz can still play as cover and we still have Cara as cover anywhere across the back line!

I dont think that you can knock our defence too much we have only conceeded 1 goal in 5 games

To bring in 2 centre halfs seems excessive it will take around 15 mill to do so!

We Have cover at the back so lets not put a wage bill up to high
