LIVERPOOL VS BOLTON - A tough game

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

on a purely football basis, they can't live with us. we need to make sure that we don't give any stupid free kicks away in our own half as they like to pile bodies into the box and look for any second balls.

also, i think if sissoko can avoid getting booked, all yellow cards are wiped out from the 9th april.

if you ever wanted more confirmation that bolton are garbage away from home, they're currently 1-0 down at birmingham.

Bolton are in a really bad form right now, they just lost 1-0 against Small Heath

Hopefully they continue it against us!

yup, smallheath harriers just beat them 1-0 so confidence is going to be pretty low even with fat sam trying to gee them up. i think they're there for the taking but no doubt they'll try and boot us off the park and disrupt our rhythm at every opportunity but we've shown this last couple of seasons that we can now mix it with the best of them. i'll go for 2-0 crouch and garcia and another f*cking big dent in fat sam's plans for europe

If we win and spurs lose they cant catch us

well... mathmatically they still could... but it wouldnt be likely.

If we win we'd be on 70 points. 15 ahead of spurs (if they lose) but they would have 7 games left (a possible 21points)
so it would still be possible... but not likely

its more arsenal we have to watch out for behind us as they are picking up form and have 2 games in hand against us.

Saying that though, we just need to focus on our games not worry about teams below. (and just keep fingers crossed for arsenal, spurs and chelski all beating manure

The only way Tottenham could catch us if we were to win our next game, and they were to lose theirs, is on goal difference.

They have played 32 games now, and are 12 points adrift of us, so if they lose another one then that leaves them with a possible 15 points available.
If we win, they'd be 15 behind us.

As it stands our goal difference is +25, and Tottenham's is +14.

So in a nut shell, they would need to make up 11 goals (assuming we do not increase our GD before they could think of claiming 3rd.)

Basically, the only way Scruffy Spurs can catch us is if they win  4 games more than us, and also draw one that we lose.

Can you really see us losing all of our remaining fixtures with the run-in we've got?
Can you see Spurs winning 5 and drawing one of their remaining 6 games when they have to go to Highbury and Woodison, and also entertain the Scum at Sh*te Heart Lane?

I'd say Arsenal are a bigger threat, with 7 games remaining and a points difference of 14.

(I actually expect us to take 3rd at least, though!!!!!)

BTW - We need to win 8 points from our remaining 15 to be certain of finishing in at least 3rd place.

It's more than you'd think.

they have played 32 games which is 6 games left 18 points so if they lose theere next game it would be them played 33 and 5 games left a possible 15 points they are 15 points behind

We don't need to worry about Arsenal at all, if we do it only shows that we aren't confident of our own ability to retain third place.

I personally still think 2nd could happen, Man Utd have two crucial games coming up - Arsenal at Old Trafford and Chesea at Stamford bridge. A defeat in both is a possiblity. Assuming we win our games and they win their game in hand that leaves with 2 points to make up before the end of the season.

Now i'm not saying its clear cut but at least its a possibility.
