Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Yes I think he should stay for a season and see how he gets on.
Stay to please the fans (there was a very big roomer about that when he come back).
We have had super subs before and I think Robbie will suite that role.
He has still got some goals left in him unlike mori and possibly cissa.

Robbie Fowler says there has been "no indication" whether he will be staying at Liverpool beyond the end of the season (Guardian).

Sign him on for another year, albeit on the same wages he's on now.

i think he's shown so far that he's worth keeping on, he's had 2 good goals and one or 2 ruled out somewhat harshly as offside and that shows he's getting into the right positions and finding the back of the net, it's just a bit more match-fitness and sharpness that's needed. somebody else mentioned his effect on team morale and you just know robbie's worth his weight in gold in that department (he could also teach the other strikers a thing or 2 about finishing)

i'm sure rafa knows what he's doing though so let's wait and see

Robbie Fowler has admitted he still has no idea whether or not Rafael Benitez will offer him a new Liverpool contract at the end of the season.
Fowler netted his second goal since his return to the club at West Brom on Saturday as he moved up into fifth place in the club's all-time goalscoring charts.

The Reds' striker is desperate to remain at Anfield beyond the end of the current campaign, but so far he hasn't been given any hint one way or the other what the manager is thinking.

"It's a bit of a weird situation really because when most players have six weeks left of a season or contract they want their future sorted out," said Fowler.

"I'm different because I really don't mind waiting until the end of the season. I just want to stay here. I just hope I get a positive answer when it comes.

"I've had no indication what the decision will be yet. I've known from the start this is just a short-term deal and the decision won't be taken lightly by the manager.

"He's obviously not made up his mind yet, or if he has he hasn't told me about it. All I can do is sit and wait. If he comes to me and says there is a new contract there, no-one will be happier than me.

"But until that day comes, I'm not going to be saying anything to him about it.

"In the games I've played since I came back I've been happy with my performances. I don't know if I still have anything left to prove to anyone.

"But it's not really for me to say if I've done enough. In an ideal world I'd love to have scored more goals, but I don't think I've let anyone down."

Taken from Liverpool TV website.

I think it goes without saying Fowler should be given a new contract he's still got the natural ability to take up goal scoring positions and finish them off.

There is no question we should keep him. Just his presence on the bench is a good enough reason. I don't think he gets $35,000 a week though, as someone had said. I know that was what he was getting at Man City and David Moores said that the contract offered to him was a lot less. I'm thinking $25,000. Everybody knows he doesn't need the money anyway with all his real estate success.

Well, Crouchy wants him to stay:

"Peter Crouch has led a glowing tribute to Robbie Fowler and declared it an honour to play alongside him.
The former Southampton striker believes he can learn a lot from Fowler and insists his return to the club has been of benefit to both him and the rest of the strikers at Anfield.

"For me personally it's an honour just to be in the same team as him because he's been such a great player over the years, and obviously with myself being a striker you watch players like him and learn from him," Crouch told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It's a pleasure to play with him and if I can learn things from him in training and take parts of his game to mine then it can only benefit myself. He has proved over the years what good movement he has got and what a good finisher he is. Even in training you can see by his finishing just how top quality he is and hopefully I can learn from him."
