They have a weakened side, and are playing Giggs and O'shea (a defender!) in centre mid. But can still produce title winning performances and form.
My point is,we are supposed to be stronger now than them, and had we not botched up our games in hand, when we had two games in hand over Man Utd, then we would now be hot on the trail of Chelsea with a real chance of winning the league.
Now we are a good few points behind in 3rd place, with no chance. It was our Own fault!
We are supposedly better than the Mancs, but cannot produce consistent results when it counts.
This is why IMO our season will be a disapointment if we dont get the FA cup.
I blame....sub standard strikers..Cisse, Moro, Crouch, etc and lack of a suitable replacement in the Transfer window in Jan.
Hyypia, now 33..two/three more season left?? CArra same. And next season, Stevie has to perform to the same high standard, like every year.
But for how many seasons can our top players perform until there is a drop in effort/ ability ? it happens to all top players.
If you compare us to the likes of United and Chelsea then you will find yourself popping Prozac, if you had half a brain you would take note of what we were like two seasons ago, last season and this season and you would note to yourself just how far we've come in two short years.
Man Utd have a weakened side, there's no denying that but they have more deadlier finishers in their side and if you look at a lot of there performances it's not been too good has it? sloppy performances and a few lucky goals is what United manage to produce and sooner or later it will bite them on their

And who says we're supposed to be stronger than United? I don't think we have a divine right to be better than anyone, the fact is you have to work to achieve goals, aspirations and targets, we have to work for what we want to achieve, we don't have a divine right over anything.
You seem to like stating the obvious as well, any idiot can look at the table and note to themselves that we should of won our games in hand of United and then we would of been a hell of a lot closer to Chelsea and further away from United but we aren't and that's the way things go...deal with it.
Well done you've realised it's our own fault, congrats have a shandy on me. And did you seriously think we would challenge for the title this season? If you did then you were aiming far too high and have finally fallen from cloud nine and landed in horse (s)hit.
I think we've been consistent this season, we just had a bad opening to this campaign but finishing 3rd from last years 5th is quite an achievement even if it's pathetic that we see 3rd place as being an achievement especially when we've always carried the motto "You're either first or you're nothing".
I agree partly with you when you say if we don't win a piece of silverware then our season will be a disappointment but hold on a minute we have won a piece of silverware, we've won the European Super-cup, ok it's not the most creditable piece of silverware we can win but it's still a trophy regardless of the creditibility it holds and how much it's worth but as you say it will indeed be disappointing if we don't hoist the FA Cup this season.
You blame the strikers, which is fair enough, they haven't been banging goals in for fun all season but if you honestly thought that Crouch was a twenty goals a season striker and Nando then you really don't have a clue about what you're talking about. Cisse as much as I don't rate him was basically our only striker who could possibly get twenty goals but as you've seen Rafa doesn't rate him highly, therefore he doesn't get played and we've bought Fowler in who has been our most on form striker and has had three good goals disallowed.
And how can you find decent strikers in the Jan transfer window? You only have a month to find a suitable player and is it really worth it? The answer is probably not.
You mention Hyypia's getting old and he is but we have Daniel Agger as his replacement, you mention Carragher is getting older, he is but that does that mean he's declining in form? Look at Gary Neville for Christ sakes he's 33 and he's still a great defender for United. Age means nothing and whilst some players do indeed decline in ability as they age a lot will not, look at Sheringham he's 40 and he's still going. You gonna tell me he's a (s)hit player?
We also have a youth academy to deal with the aging problem and Rafa and his staff have been searching the globe and signing young talent to replace the players we have now, whilst he's building for the present he's also building for the future.
Fact is your arguments don't wash and they lack decent evidence to back them up. You're just comparing us to United and it simply doesn't wash.
