Torres - Should  we be in the market 4 him ?

why is everyone going on about defoe when robbie keane has a much better scoring record?

The combination between RK and Mido are better than Mido and Defoe or RK and Defoe . I don't think Jol will sell RK but I have a feeling that Jol sells Defoe

He misses a lot of chances, he moans a lot to the ref, he stays sit down protesting instead of getting up and keep fighting, that in the EPL would be even worse.

All At Madrid works for him, that wouldn't happen in Liverpool.

He's the top scorer of At Madrid, but he throws all the penalties, he misses LOTS, as in LOTS of chances. He's overrated, and they're going to sell him before he loses value.
He dribbles decently and he's pacy yes, but what's that worth for if then you have no good finishing?

I don't see a growing player on him, he hasn't learnt much since he was 17, he's been playing for 5 years or so now, he's not a new hit, he's well known, and he's going to be the eternal promise.

I hope he doesn't go to Germany, but I'm afraid he will because it seems important to Luis to have an atletico player on the squad. I think he will be the incarnation of the nth Spain failure in the WC.

Rafa will pay wat a player's worth and wat he thinks he can reasonably get him for... we were unwilling to pay more for owen because we had sold him 4 8m ..that's the only reason why. Now. since many big clubs are interested in Torres Rafa will dish out 15m-20m for him if it needs be and he wants it to be.

I never said I didn't think Owen wouldn't get injured did I? That is a stupid point to try and undermine me which hasn't worked. I'm not diverting it into an Owen thread, I briefly mentioned Owen. But seeing how you are allowed to comment on Owen and I'm not I shall close my gob.

Rafa wouldn't even dish out £12million for Simao a player that Chelsea would happily sign for £20million. And since when has Rafa cared about clubs that are interested in players? As he has said many a time "I don't sign World Class talent, I sign the right players".

And if you seriously think we'd sign Torres for £20mill you're having a laugh. I can't see Rafa paying that much money for any player. And you can sign two decent strikers who between them could get 40 goals a season for less than that.

Agreed a 100% with you mate, i have watched him too and he is very overrated! I'd rather have someone else.

The way i see it chaps is, we ve got to go all out to get Defoe. He s English for starters ( not that it matters these days ), also, and most important by the way, he is a proven and lethal finisher. What more do you want from a striker? We just cant afford to gamble on another overseas player which is what Torres would be. I m not doubting his ability but he s a risk. I was chuffed to bits when we signed Nando but it aint worked out, never mind lets just make sure we cut the odds of it happening again- its called leaning from your mistakes.
I say get Defoe at all costs and we ll have bagged ourselves a genuine 20 - 25 goal a season forward.    There!

I think Rafa doesn't get his strikers to play as out and out goalscorers, one of the reasons he brought Crouch and let Owen go and I think Torres would link up well with the other players here.

Also, He's been at Athletico too long and he needs to move to a team where he plays in big matches all the time, he needs that sort of pressure to grow, he could well thrive on it.

I agree this bit.

I reckon that he might become a success, but then he might not. And if you're going to pay the big money, you need to be sure of success. Of course in football total certainty, is not possible, but you can say loud that Owen or Messi would tryumph here. In the case of Torres I wouldn't bet on it, and he's expensive.
