If we are going to buy a striker for a decent amount of money we will have to buy him before the World Cup. If any player does well in Germany you can expect their price to rise astronomically...

i keep saying this but i really cant see owen coming to us this tmie. he has just signed for newcastle for 17million and been injured for over half of that. not even owen is that nasty to do that.

As for Torres i still think he s too lightweight for the premier league but i could be mistaken

I agree mate. Ive seen him a few times and while theres no doubt he can play, he doesnt wanna know when it gets physical.
Fantastic finisher, bags of skill , great on the turn as well and i was definately impressed, but once it started getting rough, he couldnt wait to get off.

So if you had 15m in your pocket to buy a striker, who would you buy ?

As for me , I will buy defoe, 7.5m plus Mori and 2.5m if Defoe Scores 30 Goals .

A lot of the spanish lads don't really like it when it gets tough, which I think is the reason Morientes hasn't done anything. I'd rather get someone who is quick and strong on the ball who can play the physical game... Kuyt (SP?) could be the man as we have shown lots of interest with him.

I still think Owen is a possibility, and one I would be happy to see. I don't think he would think twice about coming back "home" away from the barcodes. That was a last resort decision for him to go there in the first place.

One thing for sure, sabre said torres is definitely not for liverpool and i believe him because he knows la liga than most of us do. That's why i didnt like the idea of going for torres for 15m or more. Less than 5m? well, that's ok i suppose but it's not going to happen.

i can't understand why u guys keep comparing a young 20yr old talented player to morientes! Lets face it, we knew it when we bought him that he was past his prime while in this case Torres's best years are yet to come.
And as for those who site morientes as an example of spanish players not being able to cope with the physical side of the EPL well idiots hav u forgotten about XAVI ALONSO,LUIS GARCIA,PEPE REINA,CESC FABREGAS ........

extremely talented player but unbelievably inconsistent from what i've seen. he'll go on a run of 10 games scoring about 12 goals then he wont score for 10 games. he'll definitely move on in the summer but if he wants to come to this country chelsea will just blow everyone else out of the water financially as usual.

Last time i saw him play for Newcastle he wasnt impressive.

But what makes rafael benitez different from other coaches?
I think he's successful because he doent get carried away with the media hype created by the agents
