You know what I mean, the Lord of the Rings one.

I don't for one second think Gollum is real.  Someone like TJAMES might.

Looking at Moyes sometimes though......

Great post John and totally true, you just cannot mention footie infront of them atall cause it always ends in an argument, my cousins little fellas name is Michael Owen, and when she goes to her sisters they are all bitters in the house they say god it stinks in here, can you smell sh*t, and if he's got a Liverpool kit on they wont her in the house with the kids  :D
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

As OSter of the club i never had any real ill feeling towards Everton even when they were fairly strong in the 80s. The MANCs were and always will be enemy number 1, though in recent times they are p....ing me off far more, i call it the Moyes factor.
I love to see them get relegated, not having a  heated derby to deal with would only for me be an advantage during the season

You are right Dawson. The players do get on well off the pitch.

Do yer want to know why.

Years ago The meseyside derby was contessted  beetween two teams with a strong nucleus of local players.Players who knew what it ment to the fans.Iam not saying todays teams dont want to win, they just dont have the same passion in this fixture.

When Everton went under the name Dogs of war,and kicked anything that moved,Iam afraid to say we couldnt mix it with them,to many players went missing.
Dirty :censored: yeah, but they used to turn us over.

Nowadays the players socialise with each other.Alonso and Artteta are neighbours, you mentioned Beattie and Crouch, after the game its possible these players will share a meal and a few bottles of wine. While, depending on the result I will be trying not to bump into anyone I know from the darkside,or hunting them down.
Iremember being in a Liverpool hotel after a derby defeat, and there in the bar was the fellah that scored the winner laughing and joking with our goalkeeper.Consequently they were both soundly abused.I am not saying players shouldnt be able to drink with whoever they choose, but they dont understand what it means to fans of both teams in this city.I could never imagine Tommy Smith going for a bevi with Joe Royle after old fat head had scored the winner against us.

At the end of the day, some players look at it as doing there job.A job they love doing, and are well payed for but its not the end of the world if they get beat.To us its much more important.

I like my bluenose mates as people but as football fans i cant stand the cu*ts and its vice versa, For 2 games a season are friendship stops and im with me red mates to enjoy the day, go the game, get smashed and celebrate (i hope)  :D

I just fu*king hate all there players but i do think the managers do have a mutual respect for each other and im sure they will have a drink after the game together regardless of the result.

Thats just the way both there personalities come across to me.

At the end of the day it boils down to the fact that some Bluenoses feel that Liverpool supporters, bred on a diet of almost unbroken derby success in the '70s, couldn't handle a brief period of Everton dominance."

When the hell was that then?  ???

Then i realise that Crouch and Beattie are also real good mates. they have a laugh and a joke o the phone all the time about which of them has more of a chance of getting into the England squad (i think crouch has more fun on these conversations).

So it got me thinking more about the local derby (and yes, im from london, so of course i know nothing about how special the derby is). The hatred between the players seems to have been diminishing lately, ok, we are not including Duncan ferguson who makes jeffrey dahmer loko like geoffrey from rainbow, but there now seems to be a bit mroe respect between the two teams. This may have a lot to do with the recent purchases by the two managers and also it might be because Everton have finally accepted that we are so much betetr than them  :p

Im not gonna ask how everyone feels about the derby itself, we all know that we want to win, have to win and for those 90 minutes Everton are the biggest enemy we have.

But what about after those 90 minutes? I myself dont hate the team as much as i used to. 'Boro and Birmingham and teams like that are the teams i would rather see go down. It's not as if i want Everton to start getting into Europe (altho when it happened this season i did have a mighty chuckle) but i dont really hate them anymore. Altho on saturday trust me i will not be there biggest fan :D

Anyways, whats everyone's opinion? on our views and the players views. I know the players still look at this as one of the matches of the season but can anyone esle see what mi trying to say?

Are there any others at the two clubs that get on that people know about?

Also for your information there will be a massive interview with Arteta and Alonso on SSN tonight at 7.

Its getting worse and worse, whenever im in Liverpool over the summer and Im at me relatives house(s) footy always causes the arguments. Id say its probably 55% blue in my family and some of em are normal happy people but people like me Grandad are terrible when Liverpool are mentioned. Its fecking ridiculous the bile he and some of em spill, I love the bones of me family but when things like Heysel, Hillsborough etc get brought up its difficult.

On the funny side my Grandad actually believes every trophy we have ever won was swindled or cheated for. Its amazing lol, Dogleesh was :censored: he says, Rush couldnt score an on side goal and dont start him on the leg breaker - Gerrard.

Ah well I only have to put up with it now and again cos im not living in Liverpool like some of you!

Mate - your Grandad should know better.

What does he think of old  Dunc Fergie? I take it he's a world-class CF with the touch of Ronaldinho and the grace of a Ballerina!?!  :D

My girlfriend's siblings are bitters. It's all friendly between us, but then we don't live in Liverpool, and tbf I'd like to bone her sister!!!!!  :D

Can't say much about Everton fans because from where I hail, there's hardly any around. Strange...nobody here in malaysia says out loudly that "I am an Everton fan", unlike Liverpool fans who then to openly support Liverpool, through thick and thin. maybe that's because Everton's support is contained just in and around Liverpool, England

ok people, so i turned on SSN this mornign to find out that Arteta and Alonso are real close mates. Apparently Alonso is the one who said that it would be a good move for Arteta to move to somewhere like Evertno and Alonso also thinks Arteta will soon be i the Spanish national side.

I don't think Arteta and Alonso are close mates whatsoever. Yes, they're from the same neighbourhood of San Sebastian, but even in that neighbourhood there is some rivalry when it comes to this two lads.

Arteta came to San Sebastian as the replacement for Xabi Alonso. He came after doing some good seasons with rangers, but for some strange reason, he only played 4 games in the whole season.

The reasons to this are completely unclear, but rumour has it that he has a "leader" personality and he wasn't quite well received in the dressroom. I saw a discussion between him and Mikel Alonso about who was going to take the a set pieces situation. The fact is that this struggle was won by Xabi's brother and he became the shíty regular in the starting eleven. I don't know why, he isn't subbed, perhaps some think that is enough to have the surname Alonso to play well, but he's cráp, and what's worse he tries to imitate some of the passes of his brother, but not with the same touch precisely.

Fact is that in this scenario of competition for the place, it's not surprising Xabi says that Everton would be a good place for Arteta, as he was a direct contestant of his own brother.

In fact, in last game against the blue noses, there was quite tension between the two, and I think that's going to happen again.

Alonso saying Arteta is going to be soon in the Spanish Squad, it's in the realm of sarcasm, if he truly said that.

Big mistake :( arteta is a decent player. Mikel isn't, he doesn't know tackling, he isn't in the correct place never, and he runs like a chicken without head.

I remember playing cards one night with about 8 bluenoses in Summer 1996, talking footy and the season just gone.
The question was "What was the highlight of the season?"..... they all said the mancs beating us in the FA Cup Final.
That says it all.
Now, that was 10 years ago.
Liverpudlians have had that kind of bitterness for 10 YEARS at least.
When these people get their kicks from our defeats you cant help but dislike them.

When we got relegated in the 50's they walked a coffin down Water Street and chucked it in the Mersey.

All I can say is when their time comes, GET THE COFFIN READY.

:(

Sabre, i hate to burst your bubble mate but that is what was said. they ARE mates. in the interview (not written, spoken so you know its true) alonso says he was the one who arteta spoke too about the whole everton move and they still regularly keep in touch.

maybe you're not even spanish!!!  :rasp

Maybe, and maybe the truth is not spoken when you have a journalist on front of you :)

lol..touche sir.
but it was a very laid back interview. they seemed matey. maybe they are happy to be out of the spanish spotlight of hate? because the football there is intense (it is here as well, but not so much for the overseas players if u know what i mean)
