Birmingham are likely to be without injured stars David Dunn, Jiri Jarosik, Muzzy Izzet and Chris Sutton for the FA Cup clash with Liverpool.

DJ Campbell is cup-tied while Emile Heskey is struggling to overcome an ankle injury.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez will be left wondering whether to stick with the 3-5-2 formation that helped his side beat Newcastle on Sunday.

Robbie Fowler will not be available as he is cup-tied.

------------------------------------------------------------

Birmingham (from): Maik Taylor, Melchiot, Cunningham, Martin Taylor, Clapham, Pennant, Johnson, Butt, Lazaridis, Heskey, Kilkenny, Forssell, Vaesen, Tebily, Clemence, Dunn, Jarosik, Painter, Latka.

Liverpool (from): Reina, Finnan, Kromkamp, Carragher, Hyypia, Agger, Warnock, Traore, Luis Garcia, Alonso, Hamann, Kewell, Morientes, Crouch, Cisse, Dudek.

------------------------------------------------------------

Birmingham manager Steve Bruce:

"We've got to stay in the Premier League for the sake of everything connected with the club.
"But, for the prestige, the FA Cup is a fantastic tournament.

"If you get this far in the competition, you can start smelling the hot dogs a little bit."

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez:

"It is possible we will keep the system for the Birmingham match because it was good.

"We used three centre-backs and had Stephen Warnock and Jan Kromkamp as wing backs and it worked well.

"The movement of Harry Kewell also caused problems."

i will be happy with a 0-1 win...... this would be my team...(rest reina, warnock, crouch & kewell for the derby)

                          Dudek
      Finnan    Carra    Agger    Traore
      Cisse    Alonso   Hamann   Garcia
                 Gerrard
                              Morientes

Mate is that team a wind-up ?
Why rest Reina, keeprs cant exactly get tired...mentally maybe, but he had a 3 game break not so long ago.
Also why drop Hyypia ?
We should play our strongest team, this is our only chance of a trophy this season and we are away.
They have nothing to lose so all the pressure is on us.
Traore starting ??? Are you kidding ?
There best player is Pennant who plays right wing and would be one on one with Traore most of the game if you have Garcia ahead of him. There would only be one winner there.
I would go with a normal 4-4-2
                    Reina

Finnan     Carra     Hyypia      Agger

Gerrard    Alonso Hamann      Kewell

                 Garcia

                        Crouch

i just think it has been an absolutely long season..... We need to rest a few of our players.  This and the fact that birmingham is a sh11ty team makes me confident that we can win there with traore and morientes..... (remember, moro got a goal against fulham.....so this could be a start of a goal-scoring spree for him............ :p )

No matter which team is put up by rafa, we will thrash birmingham 3-0...although i would be happy with a 1-0 win.

While you are probably right rock, is it worth the risk ?
We are getting towards the latter stages of a major competition.
I know we have a massive game sat but i also think this game is massive...play the strongest team and bring players off if possible.

no point in putting out a weak team after we knocked the scum out,

this will be interesting to see how rafa approached this one, he has tended to use his big guns as much as possible this season because we have a stronger squad, gerrard ,carra  will start the rest is up in the air

This is our only chance of silverwear (minus super cup) this year. So we have to put out a strong side and learn from our mistakes from last year, the Burnley disgrace!
