dont know if there is a dedicated thread for this, as there possibly should be, but has anyone made the jump to 360 from the original xbox yet.. and if so, is it worth doing so?

issues etc..

obvious question maybe. but im not into all the live stuff so that would be lost on me. however if the unit is good/worth enough to upgrade just for single player/odd co-op game then feel free to enlighten me  :p

cheers guys.

Graphics will absolutely blow you away (even more so if you have a HDTV)..................and, er, so will the prices of the games.

no HD yet   :(    the missus hasnt been sat down and talked to about the benefits......yet  :;):

well. with the world cup being transmitted in the format id say its a 'must' have for my birthday next month!!! as well as a 360  :D

seriously though, graphics aside and xboxlive as well... some of the original titles may or may not be compatable i realise.
but is it an essential purchase citing the above exclusions?

i fancy one yeah...just a case of in at the deep end i suppose... £300-400 sheets deep!

do you use xbox live jbg? or were you just commentating on what you'd seen.

It is quite a leap graphically speaking(you must also get the hd telly) equipe the 360 with the harddrive & correct component/hdmi cable then check out the the display that accompanies the free music tracks(on the hard drive) Also purchase the 5.1 sound system. Thick end of £1300 should suffice but it well worth it.

The graphics are still superior on a normal set, but believe me, you will itch until you get the hd telly, I did.

neil, is there enough HD output on telly to justify the expense?
i know SKY have dedicated channels, but aside from showing off the 360 and the world cup/sky etc...is it really the way forward when most of us could get by with just what we have? isnt it a luxury as yet?
reading up on hd makes it look as though we all HAVE to make the change fairly soon?

id love a HD set, same as id love a console that did all its asked of impressively well. my question is, does the xbox(1) fill that role already or should anyone who, lets face it, can only be described as a casual gamer at best. (me) throw caution to the wind and 'go for it' even when i probably never would use the online features..... or at least i havnt been shown exactly how they work. and in that respect ignorance is keeping me from learning the facts i suppose.

hd aside. bottom line:

can the xbox(1) and its library satisfy most gamers needs.

(i think it does for me) but then ive only seen a trailer for g.r.a.w in gamestation on a standard screen and concluded that ...although it does look impressive. does it play as good as it looks?

or

would swankier graphics/improved ui/aesthetics/media dashboards.. etc.. count for nothing unless portrayed over acreages of screen estate that has more dpi than you can count up to.

i seriously would get one if you guys talked about it more and
:D kind of persuaded me!

also could anyone differentiate the 2 systems available to me.
wireless controllers would be NICE but the rest of the bells and whistles?  hmmm you lot are probably about to tell me to do some research on the web  :D

ive done loads! and still cant get a human idea of its potential!

graphics are a must thats obvious. but what else is it (good) at. and is it any different to the original in those respects.

long-winded and slightly wandering off-topic i know. then cant we start a sticky topic for xbox 360? it seems a lot of you are waiting for the ps3.

let them with 360 share the views, after all there will be almost a years headstart......

thanks ppl.

Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion out in 7 days, thought i'd link a site where you can stream videos to see what its like. These are from the xbox 360 version btw.

Looks awesome tbh. Can't wait till next friday to try it out.

I had an Xbox and now have a 360, I know what JBG is saying about the games but you can get them off the net for £39.99 (PSP games are £34.99) new or about £32 from eBay (which is what I do).

If you liked the Xbox you'll love the 360, apart from my Mac it's one of the best purchases computer/console wise that I've made over the past few years!!!

The Dashboard (GUI) and graphics are fantastic

There currently is'nt alot of HD output, this is true, however this will change,.Sky are about to start shifting the HD Sky+ boxes(£299) which will pick up all HD transmissions including.........THE WORLD CUP   :grinning: (BBC)
There will be an add-on released for the xbox360 shortly that will alow HDDVD films to be watched. A hard drive will allow backward compatability for an awful lot of your old xbox games(eventually all of them). You can visit the marketplace on 'xboxlive' and download demos, trailers and quirky games for free(mostly). Lastly DO get that wireless controller, its mustard.

One good reason for getting a 360 is Hexic HD for free  :;):

Great game.

Just thought I'd give you guys some Revolution news in brief: They don't care about Sony funking up, they're got some brilliant new golf game being developed, the new Zelda is going to have some special Revolution features, Midway and Activision are making some crazy stuff (possibly a new Mortal Kombat game) and 1,000 of the new controllers have been sent out to developers and publishers so they can fine tune their products.
