ARSENAL VS LIVERPOOL - Keep your heads up!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I had not seen the game on Sky, until just now.

For what I saw Arsenal cut our defence apart at ease.

Could have been 4 or 5 ? . The Stevie Error, it happens.

However crouch had enough time to make a cup of tea bfore that free header first half. Not even on target.

Just how long are we going to tolerate this sub-standard rubbish? I heard Cisse was left out of squad?

he's definately gone I think.

Its particular bad losing to them, as they are chasing a champions league spot.

If the Ronaldo bid is true, we should also bring back Owen IMO. Id give fowler at least another season, to get fit etc.

As for Crouch, Cisse and Moro......do whatever you like with them. Honestly, Id put Morientes into the reserves until he can start banging them in.

Got  back from highbury about an hour ago and against my better judgement logged on here to see the reaction.

Hustler ....credit where it's due you called it just about right by stat8ing that Arsenal cut ou defence apart. Teams like Everton and Bolton set out to unsettle Arsenal (Thats code for kick lumps out of their superior players and bully them off the ball and upset their playing style). Liverpool are either incapable or unwllling to do that and today demostrates what happens when you allow Arsenal to play. ???

Ok we can clutch at straws and say Alonso's dismissal was wrong (he slipped and Beenett only saw half the incident and reacted to that...........numpty !)  or that Gerard's backpass was football suicide when your playing against the likes of Henry but its simply covering the cracks IMO.

Not only don't we socre enough goals (34 in 29 Prem games) we lack pace and creativity and were soundly beaten today. Maybe the long season is taking it's toll on players (Alonso chased shadows all afternoon). Whatever the case Benitez needs to find an answer to our predicatble build up play and quick cos Fulham on Wednesday and a tricky trip to St James next Sunday are vital games now and 4 pts is a minimum requirement as Arsenal look like putting together a decent run and 3rd might be under threat???

And another thing , lets call it right here ....Benitez got it wrong with his starting line up..... Whats the point of playing a  RIGHT footed player at LEFT midfield (Garcia) when you have  a LEFT footed player (Kewell ) on the bench ???

I always thought Garcia was a Lefty...?

However, if I'm wrong, he is at least competant with his left and it gives us the option of him cutting in a shooting from range and giving decent crosses...

but I'm still adament hes a southpaw

We had our chances but no one put the ball into the goal. Our striker need the confident to crush the oppponent defence. Have a gut to dribble pass the defence. The Gerrard's error, I have mentioned it in another topic. It happens, and he had got it twice already (remember the game England vs France in Euro 2004 when France was no where to win the game until Gerrard commit the 'sin').... Anyway Gerrard has been performing very very well all this season long. I still think it was a bad luck on him...

Didn't Gerrard kicked the ball straight to Henry against France in the exact cirumstances during Euro 2004?

I am quite satisfied with this display........ We were over-run by arsenal but still manage to almost get a draw. Lets face it....Arsenal are the most in-form team in the league now. They could have easily beaten the scums & chelsea with that display. And we almost got a draw by playing awful.... Not bad.

As for our starting line-up.....  :no...Come on rafa. Lets just go back to the winning strategy. Gerrard on the right. Kewell on the left. And Hamann & Alonso in the centre. This looks like our best midfield combo...why do we have to keep changing it ?

Anyway.........

I still maintain that Cisse & Garcia are our most potent strike force.

I still think Crouch & Morientes are not good enuff for LFC.....(Crouch is not good enuff to be the Main target man & Morientes is over the hill).

And I still think we should sell Cisse, Morientes & Crouch in the summer...

Gutted about the result but i think Arsenal deserved to win.
Henry is an amazing player.

Garcia is a discrase in general on the pitch but cant really complain too much because he got the goal back for us, which none of our strikers can seem to do recently.

Before the stupid backpass by Gerrard, he had a poor game anyway, miss directing passes and loosing the ball.
The sending off of Alonso was rediculous, the flaming referee wasnt even lookin.
All in all, it was a dissapointing day for us

Just hope we can win on Wednesday

as soon as gerrard did that back pass, it felt so much like the one he did in the European championships when we were playing France in the opening group game :(
