Were you watching a different game?
He scored a decent goal but did very little else.

He's certainly not a £12m player. I've seen him in other games and he has some talent but he's a bit of a luxury type player for me.

He looked ordinary to me apart from the goal. His crosses weren't great, and his general distribution was very wayward.

In other words, we've already got one Garcia, ta very much. £12m could be put to a lot better use elsewhere.

Agree with you Ivor, the money could be used to purchase Jermaine defoe (may need to add a little bit) who in my opinion would be a great buy.

And?

He is one of Benfica's wingers and he executed roughly half of their crosses. How amazing.

Simao is an attacking midfielder and he had 3 shots during the game. Big deal.

Like I said he scored a good goal on the night but he is not the consistent world class player we need.
There are probably 100 better ways to spend £12m.

How many times more you need half a chance to win games?

The EPL is a shi.tty league, Chelsea is just a good team but nothing out of the extraordinary (Worse than Juventus, Barcelona and Milan), and already has like 20 points of advance to the rest, and you talk about players from others leagues not being good enough for yours ?! LOL

Maybe if Liverpool played decent football, instead of kicking the ball through the air to some guy 2 meters tall that can't even run 5 meters with it, Morientes and Cissé would be scoring goals no ?

Like these two, Simão is a player too good for your stinkin' team.
If you don't remember any of his crosses, maybe you'll care to see the Euro 2004 quarter-final again. :D
We don't mind keeping him, if a good offer comes we'll sell him, if you don't have money we'll sell him elsewhere.

And the Portugese league is good?
It's marginally better than the Albanian League  :p

Most fottball pundits say the PREMIERSHIP is the best league players like wilkins when he went to italy and played for milan i think said its not anything compared to the PREMIERSHIP

The PREMIERSHIP at the moment has a run away leader chelsea but you have us and man utd chasing second spurs bolton arsenal even blackburn going for 4th every game these 7 play in is going to be intense as every point counts

id advise you to watch sky sports 1 on sunday 4:00 and on saturday i think 12 :30 prem plus to excellent games

Liverpool - Parry hints at Simao move
10 Mar 2006 10:29

Liverpool could resurrect their interest in Benfica winger Simao Sabrosa, following the player's impressive display against the Reds this week.

Liverpool's bid to sign the former Barcelona midfielder in the summer fell through, but the Portuguese international came back to haunt Rafael Benitez with a stunning opener for Benfica in their 2-0 win at Anfield.

Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry said: "The goal was ironic for us because the player was close to signing for us and now he knocked us out.

"It is not discarded to speak with Benfica at the end of the season."

He showed flashes of genius but little else.
The goal was a cracker, and his crossing wasn't as poor as some are making out....its jus that Benfica's forwards were a bit deep due to them being on the back foot.
He would be a similar player to Garcia though, without doubt, garcia could of scored the same type of goal and has, he got one against spurs last season with his left foot that was on the other side of the area, but the same sort of strike.
If it was 5-6 million then i would think he could be worth a look, but 10-12 is blowing far too much of whatever budget Rafa will have.
The Benfica fan who claims the Portuguese league is as physical as the Premiership needs to get a clue.
In every other European league when you get the ball played into your feet you have time and space, players stand off, get behind the ball and leave the players with time to think.
In England even the likes of Sunderland dont allow you that, no matter how poor a side is, in England the first thing a player is told to do is get tight and close players down every time a pass is made.
That is why Morientes has struggled, he has not imo expected to have a player snapping at his heals and leaning all over him, every time he is passed the ball.
Other leagues might have physical players that put there foot in....like Alsdo Duscher at Deportivo, but that doesnt mean the league in general is a physical one, in the majority of games in the spanish and portuguese league players have time and space on the ball.
