Bad night, but chins up everybody - Plenty to still play for

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Pongolle is doing very well in Rovers. I think that's a way for the back room staff to look his potential. I think he'll become a much better player with more games played this year. Hopefully he'll not be asking for a permanent move to Rovers. It's like practical session for him to be there.

i do think that we have a very good squad overall. But we are missing the key thing wiz 'putting chances into the back of the net, no matter who is at the end of those chances'. We might settle for a striker who is very strong at heart and physically can run with the ball through oponent defence (like Yakubu).

what will be more worrying is if he doesnt address the striker problem.

if he buys some cheap spanish import, and /or will still have crouch or cisse. that is a major worry.

I have this feeing Rafa likes to wheel and deal in players, and not splash the cash for the very best.

remember...the very best players are expensive for a reason....becasue they are the best !!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to hear your definition of class, and then could you try to explain why you think that Crouch has no class.

This should be interesting.....

Im really really proud of the liverpool team this season of course i never realy expected them win UCL again this season and that  dream ended last nyt. but considering the number of games the players hav been involved in plus playing in the world club championship in the middle of all this i think our team has done well. All credit to Benfica coz if the cud come to Anfield and knock our European Champions out then they deserve to go thru but i bet their dream wud end soon too. definately a Milan vs barce final if they dnt meet before that.

i think our strikers(excl fowler) though realy did disappoint this season but they do have the remainder of the season to change that. i thought Alonso & Gerrard especially were brilliant last nyt but the first goal never came.

last nyt i was watcing the match on the other side of the world (in south africa) and listening to the british commentators & even they didnt rule liverpool out of gettn those 3 goals even wen it came down to the last 5 mins which made me realize wat a great team they r & how much they realy are respected by everyone in the footballing world.

cant wait for sunday i think liverpool will give us someting to be proud of.

I hope Pongolle is in Rafa's plans, he would of made a difference last night with his pace and control.
He has made a decent start to his loan spell at Blackburn, and another striker i am surprised that nobody has mentioned to sign is his current strike partner at Blackburn.
Craig Bellamy, a really clever player....bags of pace, plays on the shoulder of the defenders and scores goals in the Premiership.
He is a pain in the @rse but i'd rather have him in my team than have to face him.
I thought Blackburn got him at a cut price and he imo will end up at a bigger club.

Wouldn't touch Bellamy with a large (Crouch like..) pole.  He is more trouble than he is worth.

Does anyone have any real idea how ping pong is doing??  Has he scored any goals?

I agree with a previous poster.. You need to spend a bit of money for world class strikers.  Benitez.. who I still think is the best manager in Europe, needs to stop dilly dallying in the market and get some serious money our of Mr Parry and buy big in the summer, prefereablly before the World Cup as prices are going to get silly afterwards.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Bellamy has got a bit of a poor attitude, but he wouldnt be the first person to fall out with Graeme Souness.
The lad has ability and we could do far worse imo, he is a far better player than the often touted Andy Johnson.

We might have lost but there plenty of positives,at least we are creating chances and conceading very little. We lost to a superb goal,i'm confident for the future. We will get second place all we need is a few good signings and from Rafa's record in the transfer market they will be coming.YNWA!

Now, with those websites, you can learn more about SLBenfica club, their fans, their passion with soccer, and many other things :;):

Glorioso I accept that result: LFC 2-1 SLB

I'm sorry if you liverpool guys think i am rude, but i don't agree with my partner.
For me, if we lose in anfield, even if we pass to quarter-finals, it's a bad result.

Benfica is one of the best European Clubs actually, in my opinion, we have probably the best club administration in the world, a very good coach, good players and the best supporters (don't be angry with me, you are the 2nd best supporters). So, to LOSE is NEVER a good result, even a draw would not make me happy.

I think we have chances to win in anfield, really.

it will be 1-2 (kewel ; karagounis,Simao)

REMEBER WHAT I SAID ? I WAS NOT JOKING!!

Congratulations! You are REALLY the 2nd BEST SUPPORTERS IN THE WORLD! THE ATMOSPHERE IN ANFIELD WAS SOMETHING LIKE GREAT! :buttrock

I have to say, 2 days on and I still feel low about this .. :( just as the joy of winning lasted so well, the misery of going out, has been hard. Today Gerrard was involved in the handover ceremony of the new trophy . gawd I feel so bad for him.. is it just me or is the feeling 'of can't quite believe we are out ..' still there :(
