When pitching Alonso and HAmann I fear that there will be a gap between the central mid and the attackers, which implicates a lack of support for our men up front. There is no point for Crouch/Morientes/Fowler to win in the air, if there are noone to pick up the second ball. In a match like this, where we (hopefully) will hold the ball a lot, I would really like to have someone there to fill the void between the mids and the attackers. There are no players in the world better than our own Stevie G when it comes to that. I would love to see an Alonso - Gerrard pairing on our central mid; with Gerrard taking a big offencive responsibility

Agree about the midfield there... I like the Stevie - Alonso combination in midfield. Hamann is a quality option when Alonso is rested but I also think another option is to play Garcia when we rest gerrard and sit him behind a front 2, while hamann/alonso plays abit deeper. Like my team on the previous page - if you want to rest stevie and alonso for benfica, then Hamann Garcia in the middle i think is a good option

for this game I think that Gerrard and Kewell whould be rested. Im REALLY impressed by Kewell. He came back from injury and since Zenden got injured i cant remember him missing a game. my team would be something like:

                   Reina

Kromkamp Carra Hyppia Warnock

             Alonso Hamann

         Garcia             Riise

             Crouch Fowler

Benitez will probably put Morientes ahead of Crouch but it would be interesting to see Crouch and Fowler together, especially with since Crouch just scored his first goal for England. His morale must be really high right now so its the best time to give him a run of games.

2-1 after 20 minutes, turning into a bit of a goal fest. Gotta say Steve Ashton looks like a decent young player. 14 goals this season and quite a prolific goal-scorer for the England under-21s. I think getting rid of Cisse and Morientes would be a good step and allow us to buy 3 or 4 good young strikers.

I would have preferred that Sinama-Pongolle be given more of a chance for Lfc rather than being loaned out.

I think you made a slight mistake luke, Crouch already has 5 premiership goals. Maybe you pasted Morientes stats on to him.
