Where is kewel at his best?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Hey peeps,
I was just wondering where we should be playing Kewell. I know we are always being told how we are short on width and blah blah blah but Kewell can play a great 'scholes' type role just behind the front man (or front two would be better).
I liked how Kewell played and hes getting back into the positions he should be getting into when he can run past the defence and get some shots on. the guys quick, got great reflexs and can score the goals
i was just wondering where you guys thought he would eb best placed in the team?

Hmm tough question.  He plays up front (or just behind the strikers) for Australia and often did for Leeds as well and with a fair bit of success for both teams however I still believe he has never looked more dangerous than when he played wide for Leeds.  Of course for the rest of the season I would be tempted to play him up front simply so Murphy stays in the team to take penalties (we seem to have got our fair share this season)

Left wing.

He's a left winger. End of.

He's not a deep forward, he's not a centre mid, he's a left winger.

He should play there and there only.

I agree with Stu, left wing is the best position for him.

2 and a half inches to the right off the left touch line.  Yeah right on the line and just go forwards and backwards no where else.  A bit like a castle in chess, without moving form side to side.

Agree that Harry should be used as a out and out winger! The only problem  is i fear that we wont see this allowed under Houllier! I thought that when he was signed he might be given a role to attack the full back every time and cause problems! Ginola has scarred Houllier's mind!

I prefer to see Harry on the left but he has often faded from games playing there this season + has shirked his fair share of tackles. Kewell and Riise could (should) work brilliantly down that left side (something for the training ground GH?)
However, the lad has played some of his best football playing up front for Leeds so i can see why Houllier might be tempted to play him up there.

He did well on Sunday.

On the left and no where else except as cover. I think if he had stayed on the left wing all year he would have settled quicker, hopefully houllier will realise the wing is his best position and stick with him there.

he is a left winger, thing is with kewell and laurent robert, they are hot and cold, but they can be brilliant.

he was brought to provide width on the left. he is one of the best left wingers around. the only problem was houllier played him on the right for a spell (yawn). the guy will be a star next season. it's been difficult for him this year but his class will come through. same with pires at arsenal.

I agree that the best place for him is on the left but he also tends to wander. He keeps popping up on the right. Stay on the left Harry and keep whipping in those deadly crosses or scarring the life out of the opposing full back with a pacey burst of speed.

His best position is playing on the left and getting the freedom to roam.

Saying that, I do think he is an effective fill in as a second striker.
