It seems that english fans are all the same..You never deserve to lose. We've been hearing that since Euro 2000, Man Utd-Porto, Sporting-Man Utd, Sporting-Newcastle, Sporting-Boro, Benfica-Man Utd, Euro 2004...you never win, but the portuguese always suck. Maybe you should show a lot more criticism of your team. Benfica played badly, it happens..or do you think that this is our best? If you think so, I may think the same way and tell you...Liverpool was the weakest european team to visit us in the last 3 years. Even Molde tried to do something. Our GK didn't made a single save.
You shouldn't be so arrogant. I know that it will be difficult in Anfield, but let's see what will be the excuse then if you don't win. It always the same with the english. You never deserve to lose. Never. If I was european champion and my team played like that I would be the first to say "we lost and fully deserved it!".
And yeah...you defense was awesome, our sucked.

You judge a team/player for a single game you saw. Typical. Now I know why some english players are so overrated...

And yes, if you win in two weeks, I'll congratulate you.

Hey, I wasn't saying that these guys are overrated, but many in the Premier League are and now I understand why. You seem to judge a team/player on a simple game. That's what I said. About being here after 'Benfica trashing', you just made my point. We'll be crashed no matter what;).
I always said that Liverpool are the favourites, still are. I will have no problem coming here after Anfield's game and congratulate you. No problem at all.

ok, just got back from the pub, my verdict.....sorry i didnt read all the 100 posts or whatever...

Defence + Defensive midfield (i.e Sissoko when he was there, hamaan, alonso to a point) was good. The defence bar hyppia were especially good. Neither team created any chance worthy of noticing other than the goal.....which was a good goal, well done benfica.

Same old story again? Sure i could whine about the referee blah blah, but i aint gonna do that.

Same old story again? sure i could also whine about the fact that none of our strikers can create/score anything, but i won't cos its been done to death.....and also tonight the lack of midfield creativity according to attacking play was,well, shocking.

All in all it was a fookin boring match which i wouldn't have watched if it weren't for the fact that i support liverpool, i kept looking over to the real madrid vs arsenal match which seemed more entertaining.

I would have taken a 1-0 loss at the beginning of the night, and ill take it with a pinch of salt now......benfica have a crappy home form as of late and they still managed a 1-0 win in the most prestigious cup tonight against a team which had the most possession and were attacking more (in 1st half definately maybe 50-50 in second half).

but all in all well done Benfica who pulled an unlikely result out of the bag, and shame on us. Comparing both forms as of late, Benfica were the better team, in the match, maybe not.

But roll on Anfield......perhaps us having to score more than 1 goal will make this an actual exciting match to watch.
And of course i hope we win.
