Sony are the big daddies, but the 360 is very good and its hit the market early. Some of the games planned for release are class.

I'm going to buy Oblivion next month on the PC. Its more of a PC game than a console game but its promising to be brilliant. Have you heard much about it Paul?

I've been keeping close track of the PS3, their are so many rumours around but it doesn't look like it's not going to be released until end of the year/early next year, another thing is it's well known how many promisses Sony made with the PS and PS2 but failed to deliver (even though they were good consoles), I'm sure the PS3 will be awesome but the thing that will split the PS3 and 360 is if the PS3 catches up on the online play side of things as online play is the future of console gaming  :;):

If the future of gaming is to play online(Werzygon and wurzygon, Paul) the natural progression would be to only release multiplayer games, al a Quake III which incidently must rank as the biggest purchase dissapointment of all time(loved QuakeII see). Now then, if time and resources are saved by developers through not concentrating on single player modes will games become cheaper, online play become more expensive and creativity lost?

I play WoW a lot, which is the biggest online game of them all. Its a brilliant game, if a little repetitive.

I've also ordered Battlefield 2 in which is one of the biggest online games around.

Online is the future for consoles, but it is well established on the PC platform for a long time. Strangely, I haven't played as much as I should, but it is far more exciting playing against real people than AI opponents.

Thats right JBG, but there are problems with online play. I've had an xbox live account for about 2 years and experienced a few. For example when Halo2 was released you could kiss goodbye to any opponents in say 'crimson skies', vietcongs single player game never saw the light of day(not the only 1), also I could'nt get off the fookin thing. Project Dark Zero online when I get in methinks, pity you sold it Paul.

BF2 is in a league of it's own when playing it online.  However, if it's played as a standalone game, it is cr@p

I love online play, all I ever do is play PGR3 'live' and did the same for 6 months with PGR2, I enjoy games in single player but playing against humans is great as the banter, etc brings an extra dimention to the game. :)

I'm really looking forward to Battlefield ll and Ghost Recon 3 next month on the 360

It may be hard to believe, but the PS2 actually has more players online than XBox (let me finish).....

This is due to the proportionate numbers sold of each console. I think PS2 has sold around 100mil and around 4 mil play online, whereas the Xbox has around 2 mil XBox Live players for thier consoles sold. The main difference is in the promotion - Microsoft put a lot of money into Xbox Live, while Sony hardly announce thier online capabilities at all.

I've never dabbled in online games (I did wish to get into BF2, but my GC ain;t suppported, however) as I have always preferred playing games against people in your company as the banter far exceeds anthing I imagine any online experience would. My lunch times were, for around 2 years (no bullsh*t) taken up with 4 player games of Pro Evo 2 on my old PSone. It ws the banter and build up (you're getting a hiding etc) to the games that make competitive play with people in the same room so much more fun.

As well as the enjoyment of smashing a 30 yarder into the top corner in injury time to win the game 3-2 after being 2-0 down!

I am currently enjoying playing GTA:LC in deathmatch with other people in our work during lunch and it's a fu*king right laugh.

I'm sure online play is ace in places, however i'd rather have the game in one place with friendly faces.  :buttrock

some of the characters on xbox live are as funny as feck, I've been shot countless times due to tears of laughter(at the banter) affecting my gameplay. Some of the deadpan comedians and 1 liners are superb.

Incidently, JBG 'Far Cry Instincts; Predator' is the sequel to the original 'Far Cry ; Instincts' game that was released a while back for the pc & xbox(a bit later). The review was based on the pc and xbox360 versions of the same up and coming game.

There is no new Far Cry game coming out on the PC......not for the time being at least.

The team that made Far Cry are releasing Crysis on PC. Google it for the technology demo to see a movie of the coolest graphics ever.  :Oo:

Crysis is FarCry 2 for all intents and purposes.

Crytech, the company that made FarCry, sold the rights to the name to Ubisoft and fell out with them, so FarCry 2 will be known as Crysis.

There will probably be a "FarCry2" down the line but I wouldn't be that interested in it.

Crysis is the most amazing looking game I have ever seen.  :kungfu:
