Sorry about that guys, its a question my old man asked me, and I was waiting to speak to him to get the answer as I didn't know it.

Its a pretty contentious one as I had only two other thoughts in my head:

Alou Diarra - played during our American tour, in the first team friendlies. However never played a first team game in proper competition.

Jimmy Carter - was asian origin, played first team (scored against Arsenal if I remember righ) but is not quite black.

My old man said the answer was Diarra, but I think the question was slightly lost in translation in terms of the exact wording.

Next question, its between ynwa and peewee as they both offered the answers above. I would be inclined to implore peewee to ask one as ynwa seems to be about ten years old.

Ok, I've got a question. I'm working on the answer at the moment, but its a long one and may take a while to put together.

Question: How many Liverpool players have played in the World Cup finals? To clarify, they must have actually played in an actual game, either as a starter or a sub as opposed to being a squad member who was never selected. Also, they must have been a registered Liverpool player at the time they played, so for example, Phil Babb doesn't count as he was a Coventry City player when he played for Ireland in the 1994 World Cup.

Easy up, I was going by memory, that's why I added I thought he was at the end - implying I wasn't sure...

No- Barnes was injured. Steve Mcmahon played no part and Beardsley came on as sub in extra time.

I don't think Brad Friedel was a Liverpool player when he played for the US in the world cup.

John Aldridge also had left for San Sebastian by the time the 1990 World Cup came around.

Likewise, I don't think Glenn Hysen had actually signed for us when he played in Italia 90: it may have been just afterwards.

??? hysen made his debut against arsenal in 1989,and Freidel was at the beginning of 1998 -before the world cup. Both Liverpool players when the world cup came around. :)

Sorry Mike, you are right about Hysen.

You're also correct about Freidel: I did a Google and he joined in December 1997. Guess the old memory is not as good as I thought.

Also, Jerzy Dudek, Poland in South Korea-Japan 2002.
