I think the fact that smoking is even legal is archaic. How can something that damages your health, or contributes to the detriment to your health, everytime you are exposed to it still be legal in the UK. If the government could get pass the financial tax benefits of tobacco then maybe we'd be a step closer to a healthier nation.

Do you think alcohol should be banned too then? Its not exactly kind to ones liver and many other things ,and extremely dangerous when at the wheel. If they started banning everything that wasnt good for our health there wouldnt be too much left

Hey all, i return to the forum and am ready to rant.

Ban smoking? Bah Humbug!!!

Ive heard hot cross buns might be banned as they offend other faiths, the nat west piggy banks were already banned as the pig is sacred somewhere???

Christmas carols are banned in schools, even the word christmas is banned in some places. Where is the madness gonna end? We gonna ban red meat as it can clog your arteries?

I rememebr in my park when i were a kid there was a fantastic roundabout. Someone fell fof once and hurt his head, the roundabout was taken away. Madness

And these barmaids suing people because of the smoke, whats that about? dont they realise when they go for the job? Its like soldiers moaning about the war, its their fecking job!!!!!!

I like to smoke, i like to eat red meat. i like loose women and whiskey.
believe that if i trip on the curb i wont sue the council, and i believe that i should be able to spark up where i want.

If smoking is banend tho, i want kids banend from all restaurants, and mobile phones banned fmo all pubs and restaurants as they do my head in. I was old people banned from driving and people who eat hot food on the public transport. I want cabbies who cant speak a word of english banned and alsocars.. i want them all banned,. the smog in london is a disgrace.

ps - im against the smoking ban

I dont think it would be the same walking into Laverys and not being able to smoke. Most of the bars in Belfast city centre would have to close or have a smoking area in them!
As for spending nights in the cells. I'm on 1st name terms with most of the peelers in Donegal Pass!! I even have my own cell there

Alcohol and Tobacco are two massively different substances.

Alcohol use moderately has no negative effects on the body, in actual fact scientists and doctors both agree that alcohol can have a positive effect on the body. Lowering heart disease, etc 1

Whereas exposure to tobacco either directly or passively is proven to have a negative effect on the body, whether its increased cancer risk or blatently depositing tar in your lungs. However you look at the situation there is no such thing as 'moderate' smoking. Its a fact smoking harms the body at any level of usage, whereas alcohol, and other substances such as salt etc, need to be used excessively before your at risk.

its not a fact about smoknig, its alie y the government so they dont have to spend billions on cars which are the real cause of all of these problems if u ask me.

its not a coincidence that since there have been more cars the rise in cancer has been massive
