No disrespect to Big Mick but right now we need a "Dirty Harry " not a "Kofi Annan " (secretary united nations) .

For christs sake JBG ain't even buried and some of you are voting for your next candidate

Surely you should be asking why did we lose JBG and how do we stop it from happening again ?

I agree with you big time. I am not going to name drop, but on another hugely successful LFC forum I am part of, the mods take no sh.it whatsoever and dish out no new topics in the min area bans without a second thought.

I have tried many times, (in hindsight not with too much tact) to post helpful hints and some direction for new members, but it falls on deaf ears and you get told to mind yer own business.

I have suggested s "stealth mod". One that is not named, and can just lock stuff and delete threads without the comeback. Maybe JBG could sconsider this? (Although I have blown his cover now)

The 'Advanced Debate' forum.

Get a grip . anyone that has made a hundred posts can get in there .

As I said when that section opened "Any self respecting spammer will get access within 30 mins "

I'm sure you read the rest of my post Woof, so you may be giving yourself less credit than you deserve (quality posters will have the common sense to f*ck them off)?

I was under the impression that to get 'Advanced Member' status that you had to PM a mod and ask for it?

I would have thought that they would look over that guy's previous posts to judge if they can be allowed in?

Failing that, how easy would it be to raise the 100 post limit? Very easy, i'd think. There's solutions to any problem, you just have to look for them.  :)

Feeny , this opens up a whole new can . You can't have a true forum with a circle of wagons in the middle of it

Don't know how many times I have to say this but I'll try one more time .

The harmony of the forum is governed by the on duty mods , give them the power to eject trouble makers .

Is that to simple ?

Yes I agree that we should be asking what we can do to stop another mod from leaving their post. But the fact is a few weeks ago people were asking for another mod to cope with spammers. With JBG stepping down from his modding duties, I feel we replace him sooner rather than later otherwise we will all find ourselves in a position where people were asking for 5 mods and we may end up with only 3. I hope this doen't happen. No disrespect to JBG but I think its necessary to think about successor to him ASAP.

The on duty mods are people like you and me tho Woof, guys who like to have a social life - they can't be here 24-7.

To give them the power to eject people willy nilly gives them the power to eject people who are doing wrong in their opinion - by example, Leon - he's controversial, so I wonder how many people have asked for his head by asking the mods? If it didn't go to a panel, some donut who didn't take a liking to him might have banned him and the forum IMO would be worse for it.

Everyone's deserves a fair trial, so to ban someone straight away seems unjust. I just think we as (admittedly, I don't post as much as i'd like, but that is due to being more of a viewer than a poster due to other committments) more experienced posters should take some responsibilty in the health of this forum and use what it offers in a more responsible way.  :)

I would rather have an over zealous mod than a dozen or so a'rseholes stinking up thr forum .

I actually find your comments offensive when I consider the sterling work they've put in and the sh'it our current mods have had to live with .

I'm not advocating a police state ,  :D

But if some thing looks like s'hit ,smells like s'hit  and tastes like s'hit I'll trust the likes of JBG ,Jonnymac and St Michael to press "flush the f'ucker" anytime they like .

At what point did I put down the work the mods do? Why would my comments be offensive when I am mearly trying to help the mods by using common sense and looking to make the forum a better place for the more experienced (you, I agree, more so than I) posters?  ???

As JBG had already stated, the mods do not have the power to eject a person. To do so, in reply to your post that you would feel it would be better to give the mods this power, IMO would grant them too much power and a persons being on this forum would become a matter of opinion to that particular mod rather than fact.

The mods do do a sterling job and to quote JBG again 'worst job on the internet' - I wouldn't like to do it, but I would certainly want to make thier lives easier by assisting them where I can to keep this forum running at a level that benefits us all, first stop as i've mentioned by actually using the advanced debate forum  :)

Your earlier post inferred a lack of trust in a mods impartiality and ability to tell the diference between an a'rse and an elbow .

I got the impression that rather than trust a long serving member who has been elevated to "mod" status you would rather give the benefit of a doubtful decision to a recently arrived sh'it stirrer ?

Maybe we should continue this discussion by pm , don't want to bore the a'sre off fellow members , Christs sake mines already numb ! .

Probably best - we are already technically bowing down to the c*nts who drag this forum down by posting in this thread, let's not subject everyone else to it!!!!

I'll behave. :blues:

See? it's your fault. First some of you tell me that I suck up people (I call it courtesy). So I'm encouraged to be more me, cheeky, and shortly after I'm warned of that.

Bah. Back to the boring courtesy mode.

Did I mention I appreciate a lot your football insight?

I'd add another call for the mods to be given banning powers, what's the point otherwise?. What can they do?.

Can mods check emails/ip addresses to see if it is a returning poster?

I think, you should reconsider your decision for us, JBG.
And I still advocate self-moderating, it will be as this EASY and SIMPLE and EFFECTIVE:

sample:
1. wind-up posting
2. no reply
3 wind up himself replying
4. still no reply
5. wind up moaning
6 wind up getting bored
7 wind up leaving
8 wind up changing his name
9 back to no. 1

so easy, :;):
we're just fine, JBG
please moderate us again

A mod needs to be the right Character and spend enough hours on the forum (not minutes).

They must Also want to do the job.

I believe bigmick doesn't want to do it? not sure if he's here enough.
I'm to aggressive and need to lay off the sugar. I'm here enough to do it though.
Leon... see above, to aggressive. More grumpy than supersub used to be...
Lyndsey, to passionate and to prone to rants.
A.B. to immature...

cool_hand_luke... possibility...
Sabre... posibility, does he spend enough time on the forum though?

After that i'm struggling, sure i've missed one two people like.
