I agree with taff: the athleticism of American footballers is extraordinary.

Not only are they bigger and stronger than rugby players, they are far more athletic and lightning quick.

Many American footballers could show Djbril Cisse a clean set of heels, despite being 7 stone heavier.

Have you seen the NFL programme with Martin Johnston and David James.  Not bad for Sky.

My Brother toured California with Cardiff RFC years ago and he is a PE teacher now.  He reckons if they took Rugby seriously nobody would touch them due to the facilities andmoney available.

Football is a different kettle of fish mind you but if they invest I would not be surprised to see them as a world force in the next twenty years.

The Aussies could get a boost from the World cup as well, they have great facilities and investment.

Hey Tony Blair you listening, facilities and investment.

Forgot his name but remember a few years back reading about a wide receiver who's time over 100 metre's would have won him a medal at the olympics .

Once you get your head around it American football is a great game .Definitely the most tactical of all contact sports .

For me it's all about understanding the "plays" .This is were the pundits really come into their own (for someone like me who has never actually played the game ) ,with their diagrams and observations . Once you begin to understand whats just happend you then begin to know what to look for and appreciate that what at first appeared to be a mass of bodies randomly bent on destruction is in fact a piece of carefully orchestrated mayhem .
