On the super bowl, dont the yanks make you pis.s yer pants.

It took them fifteen minutes to over dramatise their national anthem. It is like the episode of the Simpsons where it just goes on and on...

I used to think I hated American football until I visited the States last November. They have it on tv far more than we have Premiership football on over here and after a while you get sucked in.

When I left for the States the Roy Keane scandal had just broken, and when I went over there they had the Tyrell Owens scandal, which was pretty much the same thing (star player criticises teammates) but the "T.O" scandal was HUGE!

Mainstream sport is MASSIVE in the States, way off the scale.

Mind you it's not all that protective. One player was left in a wheelchair for life after he was tackled during a game, despite having helmets and shoulder pads. It happened a while ago but it was on tv recently.

thing is........Rugby is equally tough and physical without any protection....

I would imagine someone flying at you with a crash helmit on is going to cause more damage to you than someone without..........

A 240 pound monster wearing a crash helment coming at you like a missile ! Not for the faint hearted . Without detracting from the physical threat to your welfare when playing rugby  but in rugby the opposition are generally speaking trying to tackle you ,in American football it seems the defending teams objective is to literally smash the attacking team.

They are fitter stronger etc etc. I dont like the game but the yanks are light years ahead in sport science.

You cant compare it to rugby as they have a stop start game and specialists in each position.  The intensity for their game time must be huge
