Worst knee jerk reactions ive ever seen

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Tue Feb 07, 2006 11:01 am

Cant believe the amount of topics and over reaction from some fickle internet fans on all the Liverpool forums.
FFS we where playing the English Champions, who havent lost at Stamford Bridge in two years.
What did people expect?

We have 3 strikers that havent managed a goal in 2006, plus between Morientes, Cisse, crouch they have managed 10 goals between them in 53 starts all together.

This here is where the problem lies, theres is no fire power upfront for us what so ever.
27 million pound worth of strikers that are not doing their job they are payed for.

Some results havent gone our way its true totally dominated Man U and Birmingham, it was just bad luck the last minute conceding goals, and Xabi's OG.

But thats just the way football is if we had scored 2 past Birmingham Xabi's OG would'nt have mattered.
But its happened now we have to move on, winning the Champions League was so great in many many ways, but I get the feeling some people thought, we will win the league this year because of it.

We have played so many games more than every other team in the prem, and it gets harder here on in, we still have to play Arsenal twice, Man U in the F.A.Cup, plus the CL begins soon.

There will be squad rotation and if we dont get the results people will start to question Rafa, but we have so many hard fixtures on the horizon, he will have to rest some players.

We are just having a blip thats all, all teams have one.
We will be back on track soon, its not all doom and gloom, we are 3rd in the premiership, still in the F.A.Cup and Champions League.
Ask the mancs to swap with us they would bite your hand off to still be in the CL rather than be 2nd in the prem.

The seasons not over just yet, and we could still win 2 tropheys this season.
Have faith all is not lost, we have the best manager to take this club forward, but you have to crawl before you can walk, we are getting there, just have patients.

We are Liverpool.F.C. the most successfull club in Britain, and be proud of it.

agree 100% ciggy

some of the :censored: i,ve read on hear in the last two days is laughable.

people have very short memories and should stop look to sky and the papers for opinions,

a lull is finishing 7 in the league,

a transition period is a term used when graham souness is the manager

a crisis is seeing players who have cost a fortune play out of position ever week become downheartened drag down the whole club, to which the french manager then goes out and buys more talentless players to try and stay the good side of the board who got blinded by intial success from a group of inherited players and amasing new talent coming throgh the academy.

a turn around of fortune is getting one if not the best young mangers in europe, to come to a in debt lumbering gaint of a club with hardly any money to spend and a 14million pound striker on the way. the clubs star striker and captian are both thinking of leaving. one dose and one dosn't yet manage to identify tactical leakeness in europe , if not the domestic league straight away. and take us on to a amasing cup run which no one including me thought we could win. take part in the greatest european cup final ever. win for the fifth time to retain the cup. next deason turn round the domestic form. reignite sami to have one of his best seasons ever. buy great player and bring the best out the squad.

so ciggy i don't think this is a lull either

The problem is Cggy is everyone before the Chelsea game was predicitng a win. People started beleiving we are the best team in the Premiership.

Well where not, and for the reason you have mentioned.  We consistantly create more chances than our opposition, including on Sunday, but teams like chelsea probably score 1 in 5 chances created, where we don't.

No big deal yet in my opinion.  We gave Houllier 5 years to create a team worthy of winning the league, Raffa has only been in 18 months and in my opinion we are improving, and are a better team than we have been since King Kenny was at the healm.. and that was a long time ago.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Totally agree with Ciggy. Rafa knows what he is doing . Look how much the team has improved this year from last. He is building his team, making them play his way and he will bring us the trophies we crave.
I just can't wait to see how much we improve from this year. He has got the best out of Kewell, brought in players like Xabi and his zonal marking is proving to be  the work of a genius.
I can't believe some of the posts I have been reading here, saying get rid of zonal marking, Rafa is no good in transfer market. Some people forget very easily.
I read an article in the Echo on Saturday, about the clubs finances. It compared our beloved hero Rafa and Mourinho. Mourinho won the league, well done, but he bought players he didn't need, payed astromnomical wages and the club had a debt of £140m. Rafa on the other hand, brought in quality players for a reasonable price, and cut the dead wait sitting round on big contracts, and left us with a profit of £9.5m. Oh and he also won old big ears!!!!

So when weighing these points up, who is the best pound for pound manager in English football.
Rafa is a genius, he is like Shankly, he will be a great , so instead of slating the team and tactics stick with the team. The great work ethic of Liverpool Football Club is that were one big famliy, as Shanks said, a famliy to be proud of.
So stick by your famliy through thick and thin.

Great little rant CGGY :D
Unfortunately i doubt it is first nor will it be the last time you will have to roll it out  in this day and age.
While some of reactions on forums is just an expression of frustration.
Some people however just seem to revel in the bad times and seem to enjoy putting the boot it more then actually enjoying good times.
Frankly it quite amazing how far we have come in a season and half without big money investment ,without star players that make PC manager geeks drool, changing our playing style.
We are still awakening Giant but it will sooner rather then later when world starts to really tremble at our footsteps until then keep the faith

i'm not sure i agree its people revelling in the bad times, laza... unless its lakes, of course. but its true that people are expecting us to go and beat chelsea at their own ground and to go and beat man u at their own ground, and frankly we're not quite up to it yet. we can go and give these teams a hell of a game but we are far from being a deadly side. we're a side who can sneak wins by most of the time out playing an opponent and defending soundly.

after all the talk about us needing just a quality right winger to make us the complete side i think recent weeks have shown that above all else by a mile the need is for an absolute quality striker. its reasonable to critise crouch (though he still plays a good all round game), morientes and cisse because they are not doing the job they are there to do. but to carry that on and criticise the team as a whole and wonder if we really are any good is bullsh'it.

i don't want to start getting all ageist but i get the impression that many of those who are complaining loudest are the youngest and least understanding of the subtleties of winning and success. people are looking at chelsea and wondering why we can't become and instantly successful club ourselves. the truth of the matter is though that the success they are having now, despite the input of wealth, is built on the few seasons of hard work by one mr claudio ranieri.

CIGGY, I only post negatively, as people in here think we are capable of winning the league, which we are clearly not.

You get people on here before the big games, Arsenal, Man Utd etc etc...Saying we're gonna win 3-1, 4-0, etc etc, which is obviously silly, and then we get beat, so people make themselves look silly and try and look for excuses.

It's obvious, apart from our defensive capability, that we are still off the mark. You only need the evidence of the "big" games to tell you that. we struggle to score, and turn these teams over. we are improved under rafa, but lack cutting edge. and that only comes from QUALITY players.

Even the games coming up this month......Arsenal, Man Utd, Benfica......Im not that confident.we'll defend well but still struggle to score, unless Robbie can work some magic.

It's like a soap opera, repeating itself. Im not confident of beating the mancs, even at anfield.

People in Forums just need to be more realistic.

great post (as usual) ciggy....it's easy to get carried away and throw the baby out with the bath water at the moment.  We played well against Chelski and if we had converted 1 of those early chances, it would have been a totally different game.  Lets not kid ourselves, Chealski are a better side than us and are going to win the league....i've always hoped we could close the gap this year and finish 2nd....next year Rafa will have the full tema in place to challenge  :buttrock
