indeed.

that DJ Campbell showed he has pace and skill to match, not bad for a lower league player. If he continues in that vain, he'll be snapped by someone in the summer me thinks.

However, if he wants to protect his potential, then he should steer clear of Newcastle and Everton  :D

You can bet that Benitez thinks this too, despite what he says on tv.  He knows he irritated the fans last year by fielding a bad side v Burnley and losing, so he's going to want to appear to be taking it seriously this time.  But deep down I'm not sure he's all that bothered.

Obviously it's better to win these games than lose them and I'll admit it starts getting exciting when you get to the latter stages of the competition, but if we get a bad draw in the next round and go out I'll be less bothered than if we lose to Brum on Wednesday night.

The FA cup is the greatest Domestic club competion in the world. An the fact that it could be played at the new wembley has got me wanting to win this more than anything.  An to say you think Rafa dosnt rate this cup is ludricus.

Oh yeah peeps is the semi final still in Cardiff this year?

The Carling Cup final is in Cardiff.

We've had two away draws, so it's got to be at home this time.  I might have a fighting chance of a ticket if it is.

lower division teams can also feature in the league cup, however, the FA cup is the oldest club comp in the world, which as history tells you, the first is always the greatest.

you should take note john

all the best anyway

'greatest domestic cup competition in the world' doesn't say very much really because domestic cups are not taken very seriously on the continent.

If the top sides fielded their best sides in the FA cup all the time like they did in the past then it would be worth winning.  But now if you win it it's not the same.  It's not been the same since Fergie started putting out weakened United teams in the FA cup in the mid-90s.  It's not been the same since Fergie pulled United out of the competition as holders and entered them in the pointless worlc club competition. In recent years even teams like Bolton and Villa have put out weakened teams in the FA cup.

Sadly the magic of the FA cup isn't what it used to be, we may want it to be, but we are kidding ourselves if we think winning the FA cup is a major achievement these days.

And if you think my comments on Benitez above are ludicrous then sorry mate but I think you're being naive.

I'd really like to believe that Judge, but I just don't think it's the case anymore, see my above post in reply to Murphy.

i see your comments john, but i feel, imo, that rafa did not realise just how important it was, not that he is just like what continentals feel. I think that is a bold statement/assumption to make.

Even maureen is taking it seriously, and he's continental.

i think what you mean, maybe, is that continentals dont prefer the english game, and show low respect - perhaps

i dont care what they feel, but i do believe rafa rates the FA cup, now he is a better position to understand the english game etc
