Gerrard looked very tired just before he came off, as did half the team.

Where is Agger?

Aggers not a 100% fit said he feels a slight niggle?
But I think the defence is mentally tired not physicaly so much pressure after winning the CL to qualify against sh.itty teams again, weve played something like 12 more games than the rest of the prem. We had 3 weeks break the rest of them had 2 months off.
Feckin hate Pompey and that tatoo feckin fella on the drum and his mate with the bell need shooting.
How annoying are they?

Worra bag of Sh'ite

Somebody please explain to me how the champions of europe can sometimes look like a park side .
Our record this season speaks for itself but our performance today in my mind at least highlights the lack of true greatness within our side . Comfortably 2-0 up at half time and yet we played the second 45 mins like a side bereft of touch and ideas .
Our defensive stratagy seemed to be "Hoof the 'effin ball as hard as you can and when it comes back to you Hoof it again ! "

Against Man U we made only 3 decent goalscoring chances and today against an allegedly inferior side was not much different .
I'm seriously questioning the lack of imagination and pure magic within our squad .

Sincerely disappointed .  :(

The way i look at it ,is that we were loseing to teams like this shower in past seasons. At least we won, i know it was a cr@p game all round but ,we're in the next round and that's all that counts at the end of the day. We're winning matches even when we're playing cr@p.
UP THE PURPS !!!

We won the game despite playing poorely, thats something we couldn't do last season. Even Chelsea play poorely but win certain games.

Played badly but got away with it.

No LFC player really stood out, before Riise scored I was saying, "Just have a pop" and he did.

The pitch was a joke too, i've never seen a more bobbly pitch.

We couldnt seem to get our foot on the ball, and morientes In my opinion is poor, same as Cisse. for some reason Cisse was up front but wanted to play right wing?

LFC , for all there good defensive results still seem to lack something.

Im hoping for Man Utd at Anfield tommorow in the draw.

We didn't play our best XI, we didn't play well, but we won.

For me, mission accomplished. No red cards, hopefully no injuries, and we know we can play a lot better.

Major downsides:

Morientes was very poor for me. Looked well off the pace at times, and he never really looked any kind of threat.

Warnock's passing and general communication was pretty appalling. Looked like a nervous 18-year-old debutant out there.

Sissoko's diving is starting to become a problem. He was rightly carded for his dive just outside their area, but even when he was hacked down horribly in the first half, he felt like he had to roll over something like 3 or 4 times to labour the point. I've always been proud of our team for not stooping to tactics like that, and the ease with which he goes down is seriously disappointing. I'd be similarly cross with Kromkamp's shocking dive by the corner flag, but it was such an appalling effort at fooling the ref that it was more ridiculous than disappointing.

Plusses:

Cisse had a fairly limited role after he was told to operate on the right, but even though it was pretty much hit and run from him, he owned the defender, and most of his balls in were dangerous. Didn't look like scoring, but played out of position his commitment was good.

Riise showed that he can still come in on the left and pose a good attacking threat. Great hit from him for the goal, and he could have had another.

Apart from his dive, Kromkamp looked the part. Would be a lot happier with him in the side than, for instance, Josemi was in deputising for Finnan.

You bore me, blue scum. I support one team not two. You spent more time discussing Liverpool than your own team.

Europe, you're having a laugh.  :no

Fair points Ivor. I too was particluarly dissapointed with the diving and play acting of Sissoko and Kromkamp. I would hope that some of the senior members in the squad would have a word and put a stop to that right away. It was embarrasing. :no

As for the performance, as A.B pointed out - we would have lost that last season....
