When does Didis contract run out? Am sure it has no more than a year (possibly less) to run.
Hamman has been a favourite of mine these last few years and there have been so many occasions when the guy has been simply immense when all others were losing their heads.
Hamman fits Houlliers system like a glove and you could argue he is THE pivotal player in a sytem that requires him to break up attacks, give the ball early and maintain discipline at all times. For away games that is fine but, at Anfield, playing against teams with 9/10 players behind the ball Hamman has become a bit of a passenger. He doesn't have the energy, movement or forward-thinking that can help to break down well-organised defences + seems to be sitting deeper and deeper this season. Personally, i would like to see a more creative midfielder playing with Stevie coz the Captain has the energy to get up and down all day.
Could Hamman change his game? I doubt it, but i do believe he should score more goals (or be encouraged to try and score more) The guy strikes the ball so cleanly, the volley at home to Pompey was only betterd by the left-foot screamer he scored away at City at xmas + didn't he score 8/9 goals for Newcastle the season before we bought him?
