Do we really need cisse?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Now, here it is:

Saison  Matchs  Buts
2004   33        22         =0.66 goals/per match
2003   33        14         =0.42
2002   29        22         =0.76
2001   25         8         = 0.32
2000    2          0
1999    1          0
Totaux
     6   123       66

At least, we know that's he's not a waiter in front of goalposts like Mr. Emile.

i agree it will do very nicely indeed! and your right about the performances of marseilles and monaco suggesting the french league is not as bad as every one makes out! he will work even harder on fitness etc when he gets to anfield i read cos he is suspended for the euro2004, so he will be in tip top shape when he arrives, personally i cant wait for him to come to anfield!

i'm pleased he's coming, i just don't like the price tag (14m). it's too much for a player who's not even played in a top european league. it's a lot of pressure and expectation that comes with a price tag like that. lets hope he lives up to it.

that 14m price tag has not been confirmed, that price tag has come from a##hole journalists stirring up stories so lets just see what the price tag will be, i think its gonna be between 10 and 12, which is still a lot i agree but lets just wait and see! im still excited about his arrival! the big pricetag will make him work harder!

Reds must spend wisely this summer Apr 27 2004

Daily Post

IN THE papers over the last few weeks there has been a lot of talk about Houllier and this £30million spending spree.

Well, he's already paying £14million on Djbril Cisse - there's half gone.

I'm just saying Houllier should be wiser with our money and not just buy the next so-called best thing from France.

this is gererad houllier we're talking about. the guy wouldn't know how to spend 30m wisely if his life depended on it.

you're right! GH wouldn't buy a player with the same abilities if he wasn't speaking french!

WE NEED TWO GOALSCORERS NOT ONE, THEN ITS EASY TO MARK OWEN OUT OF GAME, HESKEY CANT DO IT, BAROS IS TOO SIMILAR ALTHOUGH GOOD RAW TALENT, AND PONGOLLE MELLOR NOT EXPERIENCED ENOUGH YET, HE WILL DELIVER I KNOW IT! SO JUST SUPPORT THE GUY, LAST THING HE WILL NEDD IS NOT SCORING ON HIS DEBUT AND GETTING STICK FROM OUR VERY SHORT MEMORY FANS :)

I agree with swiss_kopite, we have the firepower, or at least the potential of it, upfront with baros, owen & pongolle waiting in line...With mellor, i think we have one of the brightest prospects in the country too...
14 million would go a long way in financing the move of a defender...if mexes is coming, well that's gd news...y not get Kevin Hofland from PSV? Or even try to prise Matthew Upson from Birmingham....
For 14 million, we could defintely beef up our defence... :)

Lets give Cisse a chance. Teh guy wants to play for us, he said even if we didnt get CL hed wanna come, and thats a lot more than others are saying. We should buy Dawson for around 5 million, get Cisse for 12 lets ay then we got 12 million plus what we get from our summer clearout.
Lets cheer them on whoever plays in the shirt...cool? :blues:
