Buying tickets with a fancard - Help!

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby 2520years » Thu Jan 26, 2006 10:30 am

I logged on to the LFC website just before 8:30am today to buy some tickets for the Arsenal game.  I couldn't go wrong, seeing as they had only just gone on sale.  By the time I got to the right page (half an hour later because of the traffic on the server) they had all sold out.  I know it's a high-demand game, but...

From the punter's point of view, what exactly is the point of a fancard?

Does anyone on here (successfully) buy tickets this way?  40-odd thousand people manage to get tickets, so how do they do it?

They may be sold out on the website but still available on the phone lines, the likes of restricted views and single seats for instance.

The fact the game is Arsenal means that its surprising that it has gone to General sale at all, so when they do go on sale, you need to call 1st thing.

i've bought tickets with a fancard a few times. you have to be really persistant, get up early, and expect to wait ages to finally get through to the right page. but then, i've only been able to get tickets to games against the likes of middlesborough and bolton - never the more 'glamour' games.

They went on sale at 8:30am, so I went on-line AND started ringing at 8:25am.

I'll try a slightly less glamorous game next then, maybe the City game.

Even e-season ticket holders only get to scrap over 500 tickets.

Ive been 2 Anfield 6 or 7 times but ive never had to buy a ticket. Now im looking to purchase for a home game in the near future I was wondering, Do u actually need a fancard to buy tickets on the credit card hotline? or is the fancard purely just a sort of loyalty service to help the regular attenders get tickets for the priority matches? Thanks :)

The fan card system was set up so as to award loyalty of fans, and to keep a record of the people who tickets are sold to.

Although not perfect, it is a simpler way to ensure people who have been to games earlier in the competition get priority for the latter stages.

It does not however record loyalty for fan card holders into the following season, this is only done for season ticket holders so that they get extra loyalty points for the fact they purchase the seasons games in advance.

The ticket office is heavily criticised, but they will never be able to please everyone.

If tickets go on General sale you don't need the fan card but there are times where you need your fan card to get a ticket. For instance there were still tickets for the Pompey game on sale yesterday but only to fan card holders.

Getting tickets using the credit line is not easy. I have sat there with 2 phones ringing (alternatively) as many as 200 times without any joy before! Sometimes you get the engaged tone and sometimes you get the answer phone. It's the price you pay for supporting a club as big as lfc.

I must admit it would make sense if you were put straight into a queue when you rang as the queue system only seems to hold 10 people.

The eseason ticket was a nice idea but i figure there must be a few thousand members (probably more) entering a ballot for 500 tickets each week. I've entered the ballots for all but 2 of our home games this season but have had no joy so far.

You can tickets for games but you have to keep a close eye on the website + have patience.

To buy on-line you need a fancard, but that will only entitle you to one ticket, if you get through at all.

You can try phoning, but it took me two and a half hours to get through last time, although at least I was successful.

You gotta remember that after Season Ticket holder get their mits on the xtra tickets, the priority ticket scheme kicks in. Then the fancard holders get a go.

I've been sucessful a couple of times using the e-season ticket ballot - saw the Chelsea game (wished i hadn't!) and West Ham.
