Look at almost all the great teams over the last 50 years including liverpool. And theyve all had one thing in common. They have all had 1 or 2 great irish players on the team.I think thats what we need.A keane or a duff or a given or whoever. Its true tho.Look at every great liverpool team.alway a f##kin paddy on it somewhere.

If anyone says "maybe its the luck of the irsh"i swear i will hunt them down and kill them.Which reminds me.We really shoulda shelled out for duff at the start of the season. But whats done is done.

Don't think we had any Irish players when we won the European Cup in 1977,1978 or 1980 ??

Duff was only ten miuntes away from signing for us, but I dont think the point is that valid. To be fair, the state of the irish national sides telkls you the story.

Murphy you bell end.

... maybe its just the luck of the irish :p
in alls eriousness though thats just rubbish, unless we got duff, which we wont. Robbie keane might be a shout if owen goes but isnt everyone irish anyways? I mean im sure that if Clinton Morrison can have an Irish claim then so can Henchoz or Dudek. What we need is quality players period. Irish or whereever, we just need some better players

I'm Irish but Roy Keane is old and past it, Robbie Keane is good enough for Spurs but he's no Michael Owen. Duff is world class and should have been bought after the world cup, if only he was French /French colony we'd have bought him.

Maybe kermit thought that Irish lad was Diouf, something got lost in translation.

I would rather have some of the irish lads we've had over the years instead of the french muppets we have now.
Aldridge, Houghton, Whelan, Lawrenson etc then mix in the scots, Dalgliesh,Souness,Hansen,Nichol. The one thing these players ALL had in common ?....... They knew how to fight for a result. Why do we keep buying french pouffs ???? ????

luzi
traore
medjani
vignal
diomede
le tallec
sinama pongolle

tell me how many of them would get within a million miles of the french national team? even teams like bolton and fulham have brought in better french players than us. why is that? oh yeah gerard houllier.

We had to fight hard to get la tallec and pongolle, who should become good players. We buy youth, sometimes it doesnt work. Vignal looked ok for a bit.. oh i dunno. Every team has its failures, its just that we keep ours a lot longer

i agree that le tallec and sinama have great potential. they need to develop physically before they can take on the premiership week in week out though. two or three years down the line, le tallec could be the creative playmaker we have been crying out for for a while now.
