David dunn - Is he not worth looking at?

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby Cisse2bking » Tue Dec 06, 2005 9:36 am

I watched him last night on sky and was really impressed. i know he has had a bad run with injury but if he could stay fit i think he would be a good RM to look at

He is still young, he will only improve at a team like Liverpool. He can beat players with skill, deliver a good ball in the box, and more importantly he can score goals

What do you guys think?

oh and i dont think he will be too expensive  :buttrock

Dunn is a very good midfielder but i would of thought he was a centre mid, despite where he may of played last night.

He has had a nightmare with injuries but if he could stay fit imo he would be one of the better midfielders in the premiership.

I couldnt see him getting to the byline and delivering crosses though, he is a pretty stocky player that is good is a small area but hardly the type of player that will carry the ball 40-50 yards on a quick break like Mcmanaman used to.

Not what we need...but potentially a top midfielder if he can steer clear of injuries ( and thats a massive if)

Class act and has tremendous ability, potentially one of the best midfielders in the country, but two serious problems with him...

1. He's never been given a run in his best position (central midfield) to learn it properly and learn the tactical defensive side of the game. His flair, skill, ability to dribble, passing and vision are top quality. He's also aggressive and strong.

2. He's more injury prone than John Woodgate and Darren Anderton put together.

Had he stayed fit and been played in his real position he'd be a superb player. As it stands he's being wasted and played out of position at a substandard team with an extremely poor manager.

Heskey, Forssell
Gray, Butt, Dunn, Pennant
Clapham, Upson, Tebily, Melchiot
Taylor

That team should be nowhere near the bottom.

Good post.

I was beginning to think i was the only one who thinks Dunn is quality (but obviously not worth the risk with injuries)

I tipped Birmingham at the start of the season to surprise a few people....they have certainly done in the opposite way to what i meant that and i look a bit stupid.

But looking at the players they have Bruce is the man looking silly...he was being touted for the England job in the future as well  :D

My answer to David Dunn is No...not anymore anyway! I have mentioned Lua Lua in the past and I think he would excel at Liverpool under Rafa. He's the outstanding player in a poor Portsmouth team at the moment. I think he has the potential to be as good as Rooney. Only my opinion though!

Sorry I just don't rate the fella. He's not without a modicum of ability but has never "gone on" to become the player he could have been. For me he sort of falls between two stools. He's not mobile enough to be a box to box game breaker like Gerrard or Lampard, and he's not skillful nor aware enough to perform the holding role of a Hamann or an alonso.
It maybe as Stu says due to injury and bad management but to me his opportunity of ever making it at a big club probably went the day he signed for Brum.
