i say Owen back on loan after xmas  :upside:

but to be a realist, i reacon he will be back at Anfield in a deal worth 10 million next summer.  I'd welcome him back, because i reacon he would be the better player for it

That would be an appaling bit of business by Liverpool.  They sell Owen for £8mil then buy him back for £10mil after he's flopped in Spain!

we all accepted Rushie back so why not Michael

I guessed it has got to be the way he left us, all those lies to buy himself more time instead of coming clean and made his intentions claer, and proclaimed to have left us for a better club instead of acting like a gentleman Rushie is ...
Good luck to you in Chester Rushie and good riddence to you in Madrid the forgotten one!

In Rush's case, we sold him to Juventus for £3.2m and bought him back for £2.8m. Surely that is good business... If we have to buy Owen back for more than what cash we sold him for, it would be very bad business - a striker low on confidence, has lost his main asset, speed, and needs to rediscover his scoring touch again.

...not to mention having to prepare 4 months' worth of sick note for him every season!
He will also need to work on different set of muscle coming back as he must have got used to sitting down for too long now :D

we sold him for 8 million because he would have been a free agent soon.  If we were to buy himback from real it would cost more than that.

In this case, it is due to length of his contract. In my view, we should take him back. With alonso & garcia in, we are creating numerous chances, which owen would put away in an instant.

As for the loss of pace, i guess owen has to re-model his game similar shearer. Shearer lose his pace when he was 28 & changed his game. That did not stop him from being a success.

With Owen back, no doubt, we will have the best strike-force, Surely even he knows that he has a better future with liverpool than Real Madrid.

Rock, I don't intend to rubbish your opinions but Shearer had a few other attributes apart from his speed. He always had a tremendous upper body strength, a good jumping and heading ability and has a ferocious shot. Owen, in comparison doesn't have these strengths but he is a better predator and arguably can place his shots better than Shearer. Shearer scores with lots of headers, and changed his game when he lost his explosive speed. It would be much more difficult for Owen.

ok....maybe he should model his game to sheringham....  :D

The thing we all agree is that owen has to revamp his game. He should not rely on his pace. Once he does (and with his finishing), he will be 1 hell of a striker. RB can do that. It is no use for him to be the 4th choice at madrid.

Surely he is much better than morientas & raul. He is a better finisher than the overwirght ronaldo too.

Raul was a great player but he should mind his own business as a soccer player. He got a big ego and wouldn't face the fact that he no longer is a top striker. Unless he realize it, he will never going to score as many goals. Currently he is too busy with playing politic with Owen and other English player. If I'm Real Madrid, I would sell him or just release him for teamsake. But of course, its fun to watch them suffer haha.:;):

Owen was at his best when he was light framed and whispy. He has since become stocky which has hurt his game. He ic still a cool customer and a good finisher (remember he took Liverpool penalties when he was 18) which means he will score many more goals. I wish him luck!
