Sevilla have reportedly followed up their interest in Josemi by making a bid for the Liverpool full back.
Josemi, who is currently in the Far East for Liverpool's World Club Championship challenge, has been a long-term target for Sevilla.
Since moving to Anfield 18 months ago, the Spaniard has struggled to establish himself as Rafa Benitez's first choice right back.
A return to La Liga has regularly been mooted, with Sevilla tracking his situation in recent months.
Reports suggest that Sevilla have now lodged an offer of €1.2 million (£800,000) with the intention of signing Josemi in January.
However, that bid is likely to receive short shrift from the European champions, who want to recoup their £2 million outlay on the defender.
Sevilla are understood to be unwilling to go above £1 million for the 26-year-old and it appears questionable whether a compromise can be reached given the current difference in the respective clubs' valuation of Josemi.
