A friend of mine works as a waiter in a hotel in London and he has told me that a couple of nights ago, he was serving Jermain Defoe and his agent in the lounge of this establishment. Being a waiter, he spent most of his time running around like a blue assed fly, but on the occasions that he did serve the tottenham player, he got the impression that Defoe is not very happy with his manager at the moment and is seriously considering switching clubs. My initial reaction, was something along the lines "yeah... right?... how long does it take to pour a glass of wine? Long enough to have a good listen? I don't think so" but from what I can gather, he saw papers with various letterheads displayed on the table. One was from Arsenal, one from Barcelona and one from Liverpool.
One of several things could be taken from this;
a) He's pulling my leg
b) He was drunk on the job (and knowing this guy, it's possible)
c) It did all happen, but it's nothing to do with a transfer
d) It did all happen, and he is leaving Spurs!
It's not too far fetched. Whispers of rumours and desires concerning Defoe have been around Liverpool and Barcelona for at least a year now, and it's rumoured in other circles too that he is understandably unhappy about finding himself on the bench for the past couple of games. And with rumours of cisse's departure abound, Benitez may well be after another striker.
Rumours, rumours, rumours. I wouldn't mind if this one were true though
Thats the type of rumour i like to see when i get into work, fact or fiction i dont care, we can all hope.
Defoe is a fantastic player and i would love him at lfc.
