I heard rumours that when Rafa came into Liverpool him and Owen had an argument over Owen wanted 90 to 100 grand a week, and Rafa said no.

From me reading the News of the World is he a money grabber?

no. we couldnt afford him, but owen has a 12m get out clause this summer (whihc he wont take, u an run off after less than a season) and 9m get out clause the summer after (which wed have first option on id say)

nah, I think it was purely based on the fact that we would have effectively given 9 million quid away for him not to play for us for a season.

He chose Newscastle cos noone else was willing to pay that amount of money for him at the time and he needed regular football to secure his place in the England squad for 2006
