Pongo to go on loan. - Why dont we get rid of cisse instead?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Benitez states on LFCTV that Pongo needs more games this season & is working really hard in training. They have come to a agreement that is both good for Liverpool & good for the player, i.e he's off on loan! Sinama is going to be a world class striker in the future & we need to keep him positive that Liverpool is the place to do it.
I saw his home debut against Benitez's Valencia side a few seasons ago & he looked fantastic. Quick, alert & most important very keen. He has kept that ever since, but if we farm him out & keep him away from the team he'll become an outsider like Le Tallec has & this will be a disaster because he will leave for a nominal fee & a few years later pop up for Milan,Barca or whatever big team in a cup final & we'll all say what if's. Football's men in the know earmark Pongo for greatness, Wenger has stated that appart from Gerard Sinama is the closest thing to a future world beater Liverpool have.
Cisse on the other hand seems to do just enough to keep Benitez happy. Not a great trainer, moans all the time & is the only player that seems to ignore the bosses team ethic of all defending together. In my opinion Pongo would've gotten more goals this season with the opportunitys that Cisse has had & its only the fact that the board gave Houllier £14million to get Cisse that keeps him in the squad. Also Benitez talks of "options" all the bloody time yet letting Pongo go limits his "options" to Crouchy whos scores a few hear & there, Cisse who as above & Nando who nearly scores now & again! We all wanted Owen back a few months ago & yet Pongo, St Mikes ready made replacement cant get a kick!
Pongo is a better player than Cisse is. Not just skill mind you. A better player is someone who takes advice, takes commands well & works hard for the team. These things Cisse does badly & Sinama does very well.
Liverpool will be a different place without that smile, turn of pace & passionate play. Things that we could'nt say about certain other players.

Agree with most of what Spion says there .Damn shame that Pongo is being farmed out,he certainly needs to be playing more competitive football I was hoping Rafa would give him the chance to do that with us.Like Spion I fear we'll ultimately lose the lad who will then go on a be a major success elsewhere.
What does his departure on loan mean to us in the short term ? ie the rest of this season.Does it signify that Rafa really does want to hang onto Cisse ? Is Rafa content with just Crouch ,Morientes and Grumpy (oops I mean Cisse) as our strike force ? How will he deploy them ? If for example he fields say Crouch and Cisse with Mori on the bench what options does that offer ? Surely one of them is bound to take a knock at some stage, where would that leave us  ?  Is Rafa planning to play most games in future using only one recognised striker ? or is he secretly planning to make a move on signing another striker in the current window .Surely our squad requires four out and out strkers ?

Can wait to see how Rafa answers those questions.

Its because pongolle still isnt strong enough to hold up for 90 minutes week in week out. I think its a great idea if it beefs him up a bit and gets him playig alot more.
As most know im still on cisses side in this and think hes gonna contribute a lot over the next few months

Hope so , I'm on his side but my patience is wearing thin .Take your point on Pongo but also bearing mind the games between now and seasons end can we cope with just Crouch,Morientes and Cisse ?  ???
