Luton Town vs Liverpool - All build up and reactions here

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Very nice game to enjoy!Plenty emotion, many and some beautiful goals, and an intense pace all the time. This is english footbal, and I love it :)

As I've already said, your defense is not as strong as you think(you probably think that due to the 11 games in a row without suffering a goal). It might have happened due to Carragher's absence but Hyypia was completely awful today! It's embarassing that Luton put 3 goals past you...

Brilliant performances by Gerrard and Alonso. This midfield partnership is the only thing that really scares me in your team,as Benfica fan.

Surprising Pongolle,I really liked him today.Do you think he is able to win a place in the 11?

first half awful preformance!!!

second half we outclassed them

That's to be expected when you have players like Alonso and Gerrard, but why didn't we do it in the first-half? Why go through all this trouble?

Mate, we were poor but don't underestimate us based on one game. You should be scared of the entire team, because it takes 11 to win a game. Remember the performances we put in, against Juve and Chelsea.

Liverpool underestimated the team.. when Gerrard was shifted to the middle we did much better

However, we need to take into account, that a team that was in the third division (using old terms) of the English leagues last year was playing the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS, so they would have been more than up for it.
For some of those guys it will have been the biggest games of their lives to date, and may even be the biggest game they ever play in. Also the simple matter that this was the F.A Cup, and though not as important in the grand scale of things as it used to be, it does still have that magic about it, that make such games happen, year in, year out.

The negatives are all to apparent, so dont think I need to touch those, but in terms of positives, the resilience and fight we showed was excellent. The Liverpool of a year ago today, would not have had the self belief that we could come back, and we would be out.
But that night of 25th May 2005, did more for us than bring home the trophy for keeps. It also gave the players the belief that WE CAN come back when behind in games, and we do have the quality to do so.
Much in the same way we came back at the Reebok last weekend, a year ago we would have lost that match too.

At least we are through and still the possibilty of another Cup along with the possibility of still winning the Champions League again (though defending of today will be puished sverely by 'better' teams!).

We went what 9 or 10 games without conceding a goal, and playing against Chelsea,Betis,etc... Even Boro and Newcastle had players who were capable of scoring goals but we didn't let them.

What it's important is that we correct our mistakes, in the past few games we haven't done that. We made mistakes against Everton and conceded a goal. We did it against Bolton and now today. We can't keep doing this if we want seriously to push up in the table.

We made it far too difficult than it should had been, but it was entertaining non the less.

the fact is those sides couldnt put moves together like luton did, if the goal the lad robinson scored was slotted in by van basten or someone everyone would be raving about it, carragher had no chance because the lads first touch was so good it didnt give jamie a chance.
even the first goal, once the lad went round carson he put the ball in the only place the covering player (finnan i think) couldnt get it.
luton played well.

I think we need 2 TBH, they are fecked.
Sammi was so slow today he´s been amazing all season but if we face the likes of Barca in the CL they are gona rip us to shreds.
Terrible lack of pace at the back and where was Riise for 70 minutes ???
He was awful today he got raped on the left side.
Managers are going to watch that game an Newell seemed to do his home work on our weak points.
Oh well we won on to the next round very entertaining for a neutral a feckin nightmare for a Liverpool fan to watch :D

Hopefully byt the time we play spurs well have some more backup in the defensive dept we can call upson.

Your post was good bu call on Upson? And do what, conced more goals? Upson is a joke of a defender, I've never seen anyone make so many mistakes consistantly. Overrated player that is average at best.

Im sorry i never meant to wrote Upson. I meant "call upon"

What a game!  It was a bloody disgrace when cisse fucked up the penalty (why didn't gerrard take it  ??? ) and then going 3-1 down was embarrassing when it wasn't even a penalty (Scott was lucky not to get sent off).

Then Rafa worked his magic bringing Flo on which soon paided off. Then an excellent lob by Alonso and a brilliant header by Flo to put us in the lead. Alonso finished the game off in the dying seconds (literally) with another excellent goal.

I'm well pi$$ed at the proformance especially Hyypia's proformance. At least we won but that is the worst I've seen Liverpool play for a few monthes.
REST IN PEACE PHIL!

A.B. Liverpool are well known for it its great for a neutral its a feckin nightmare for us, weve always done this in cup games, but then again maybe thats why we are the most successfull english club cause we never give up. :D
