Are we in need for a striker? - Why nikola zigic?.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby hobbes » Fri Jan 06, 2006 10:30 am

Latest news compiled from the net is that Liverpool is competing West Ham United for Red Star Belgrade striker Nikola Zigic.

Liverpool's offer of 5 mil pounds rejected.

Are we desperate for a striker to haunt for one in January?

We have yet to to settle our RM quest. Why are we looking for a striker?

IMO we are sprinting the market, for all available players, before Chelsea come and bargain and raises the price.
Am I correct. ?

I think we do need another striker.  At the moment our BFG (Big Friendly Giant for those without kids!!!) Peter Crouch is winning everything in the air yet we don't have a striker biuzzing around picking up all the balls he is winning.  Someone Like Defore, Owen or a young Shearer would be great.

BUT.. if this what Raffa is really after, it appears rather than have an out and out striker picking up on the balls won by Crouchy he would rather have his midfield joining in.  Thats ok with me as long as our midfield keep scoring, but I would still like an out and out goalscorer... fox in the box type player.

However I have never heard of this dude mentioned above

So you saw him in one game and you " think" he might be tall and pacy ?

£15m I reckon.

Ya big bully.

He said "if I'm not mistaken" - a turn of phrase, doesn't mean he "thinks".

we do need another striker but certainly not this guy. my long shot would be eto'o. since henry will soon be off to barca, eto'o will not let himself be sidelined for sure.

Eto would be far too expensive...

I really think we would get Defoe for a good price, he is not getting too many games at the moment and needs to prove himself to Sven.  Cracking little player, very much in the Owen mould but without the dodgy hamstrings.

I'd say we do need a striker, as all it takes is an injury (Mori) and we're down to 2 fit senior CF's. (Pongolle isn't prolific enough for my liking).

Priorities as I see them:

CB,
RW,
CF,
LB.

If we can get quality in these positions we should wrap 2nd up easily, then push on next season for a real title shot.

Lets be fair, these players would be awesome collectively:

Agger,
Simao/Srna,
Kjuit,
Bridge.

Who could argue that with these players, we'd be undoubtedly the biggest threat to Sh*tski's crown?

This fella's taller than Crouch FFS, we dont need another target man, we need an out an out goal scorer.
