Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby MilitiaRusher » Sat Dec 31, 2005 6:27 pm

Reina: 8 Composed and commanding in the box. Had a couple of easy crosses to catch. Never looked like being troubled.

Finnan: 7 Routine performance from the Irish international. Made a decent defensive contribution and had attempts at crosses from the right.

Carragher: 8 Another commanding display from the never-say-die defender. Couple of good passes directly to the attackers.

Hyypia: 8 Superb display, especially when handling West Brom's aerial threats, and not showing any signs of buckling despite evident loss of pace.

Riise: 7 Another one of those normal displays at defence. Looked a bit sloppy when attacking but took a couple of shots that could might as well go in.

Garcia: 5 A considerably poor performance from the trickster today. Tried too much in many occasions, ending up in countless losings of possessions. Need to get his act together.

Gerrard: 9 Man of the match for me. Definite defensive contributions and made many surging and commanding runs that could have resulted in a couple of goals for him. The final shots could have been better.

Alonso: 6 Not one of his vintage performance as many of his passes today went surprisingly astray, although like ever, he has improved in the defensive department.

Kewell: 8 Brilliant from the Aussie and a superb cross that resulted in a goal. Created great problems on the left flank for West Brom but lacked final quality for the cross/shot.

Cisse: 6 Average display from the Frenchmen and at times tried a bit too much. His work rate however is excellent and is improving by the day. Need to make more runs.

Crouch: 7 Well taken goal but an overall average attacking contribution. Could have been involved more.

Pongolle: 7 Looked sharp when he came on and has a bright future.

Sissoko: N/A

Traore: N/A

And by that note, a very happy new year to you all Liverpool fans out there.

Garcia is a luxury player, who great at his best, cannot be relied on for consistency.

Was there and gotta say i thought it was 90% possession to the reds.

Garcia didnt have one of his best but i dont think its any need to critisise at this point. He did try and be tricky too much which resulted in him losing the ball on countless occasions plus bad passing but f**k it hes a great player so no need to put him down.

Gerrard was consistent as usual.

Kewell is definitly back in form. Man of the match for me this game.

They are looking unstoppable now. You also gotta realise that they have just got back from japan, played some pretty big matches 2 days after each other, and also have another game monday night!!

Wasnt more than 1-0 only because of the gk. We played very well, its great being a liverpool fan these days, you expect them to win every match no matter the opponents. I expect us to again beat bolton on monday but i know that might prove to be  avery difficult match for us. But playing like we are now and the confidence our team has we should easily be able to get a victory if we play to our best

I read somewhere that if Garcia had played in the Bob Paisley era, Graeme Souness would have him nailed to the changing room door for being so wasteful. :D

We dominated but it is a bit worrying that we can't be more clinical in finishing off the opposition given the goal chances that were created.

I have maligned him a lot but I don't remember seeing Kewell playing so well in a red shirt, but still not yet up to th displays he used to put on for Leeds United.

I thought Shay Givens had to make the more difficult saves than the WBA 'keeper, because some of the shots from our players were straight at him or close to him. Gerrard's shot was straight at him and Crouch's downward header was textbook but hit his legs.
