The inevitable new kewell thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

i've been a consistent defender of kewell on this forum but i'm not going to bother with any ' i told you so rubbish'. but can anyone argue that in the last three games he's not approaching (approaching mind, not yet achieving) the kewell of old? is it hard to believe that when he says he's playing without pain for the first time in absolutley ages we can understand a bit better what's been his problem for so long? do the people who have said he has no heart or bottle still thinkk the same after his tough and skillful performances recently?

i wouldn't say harry is back but by god am i enjoying seeing him working that left flank like he owns it - with confidence, bottle and vision in abundance. i don't think its wrong to say that he has been a huge contribution to our current winning streak, or at least the most recent part of it. we have proper width on the left now, teams are a little bit more worried about what is going to happen down our left now that its not just an overlapping full back up there. there is so much more movement and so many more balls into the box, along the ground aswell as from crosses, and much more possesion being won and kept in that quarter.

in brief - welcome back harry

Gonzalez is young and will probably still have a lot to learn...and we still have a RM vacancy for him

Anyway Kewell has done well in the last few games, his revival hopefully  :)

Kewell's performances have been very good lately, but he still has a lot to prove.  It's easy to come into the team at the moment and play well as the team are in excellent form.

It remains to be seen whether he can be a match winner in a team that isn't playing at it's best as he was so many times for Leeds.  Too often have we seen him hide from the ball in his time at Liverpool when the team is not playing well.

I hope this is the real Harry Kewell back but there have been so many false dawns that I'm not getting too excited about it.  The less we expect from him the more we'll be pleasantly surprised when he does the business, that's the way I look at it.

One thing's for sure, he's a confidence player and if the fans get behind him on a regular basis like they were today then we could really see him get back to his best, barring any more injuries of course!

To much praise to soon. I was ready for him to go, i still am. However, recently he's been very good and much improved. This Kewell of old nonsense annoys me, he's clearly lost a yard of pace and isn't in the same physical condition, however he has adapted his game.

He looks better on the ball and his crossing and technique seem to have gone up a level. He is earning another chance.

I am still really annoyed with him, he has ALOT to prove and 4 or 5 good games won't win me over, however, if he continues in the same vein of form with the correct level of effort (as shown recently) i'll be more than happy to give him one last chance.

Thats what it is though, if at any point in the next 6 months he doesn't look like he's giving 100% he'll be out the door and rightly so.

So far he's taking his chance and i'm pleased to keep him where he is.

i've been pleased with kewell recently and if he can get back to the harry kewell we saw during his first 6 months at the club (i think he scored 9-10 goals) then we'll have a hell of a player on our hands.

however i think the harry kewell we saw at leeds is a thing of the past unfortunately. even when playing well, he doesn't run at players and go past them like he used to. :(

i agree that the effortless beating of players and willingness to take them on will maybe not be seen again (at least so much) in a liverpool shirt. but what i've seen in his game recently is an all round intelligence and willingness to be involved. the number of times he has come deep to collect the ball to start a counter attack or even to help break up the oppositions play have surprised and pleased me in equal measure. i don't know if he's been doing a lot of thinking or training or both in all his time off but i think we could see a much better all round player than the out and out attacking winger he used to be.

Its good that we have Gonzales also after all we can rotate and change them as we please. Remeber Kewell can also operate as a striker.

Kewell still got a long way to go but i for one am glad to see him getting some form and confidence back.
Its also nice to see all that over the top trendy slagging of him has disappeared for the moment, well until his has a bad game anyway.
I think a lot of praise also has to go to Rafa who after making a major mistake in starting him in the CL final, could have been forgiven for taking a political decision in not perceiving with him.

Ive read somewhere that Kewell came in early for every training session to deal with his groin problem, apparently its still disturbing him.
His attitude on and off the pitch has improved as well, i just hope his goals will come cos he deserves it.

Give the kid a break, he was injured!! He doesnt have anything to prove, hese a flashy player and if he didnt have anything to show Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U all wouldnt of wanted to sign him.

As soon as he came to liverpool he scored goals played great, then he gets an injury, what the :censored: do u expect to do? of course hese not gna be playing, or playing at his best. Now that hes over his problems hes showing his class again.
