Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Incredible year, first half, pretty routine, directionless and dull, repetitive, monotonous, tedious and boring.

Since May 25th 2005, partying, shagging, drinking, spending loads of money on a trip to Thailand and now it's Christmas.

I'm very happy for the time being. :D

Best moments of 2005...

The most meaningful YNWA ever at half time at the Ataturk.

Stevie's goal restoring some pride at the Ataturk.

Going mental after Vlad's goal at the Ataturk.

Going even more mental after Xabi's goal at the Ataturk.

The defensive heroics by Jamie and the guys in extra time at the Ataturk.

Going slack jawed when realizing Shevchenko hadn't scored and wondering which of the gods I had been praying to had come through for us. Still unknown.

Jerzy going all UberBrucie.

After telling yourself that if Jerzy saves this penalty, we are European Champions, that delicious one second delay between Jerzy actually saving it and realizing WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE.

Going mental again.

Next afternoon, waking up and remembering WE ARE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS.

Then checking my legs trying to find bits not covered by bruises.

Spending the next few days with a permanent smile.

Spending the next few weeks smiling at totally inappropriate moments.

Typing this and smiling inanely once more.

1. i've never had such a great mixed-emotion before in my life until the 25th of May 2005
2. CL semifinal vs Chelsea
3. Gerrard goal vs Olympiakos, there would be no CL cup this year without that his last-minute goal :;):
other things in 2005 are just relatively ordinary

So many great memories that definitely overshadow the disappointments.
Mellors goal against Arsenal...too good.
Gerrards goal against O'piacos.... too too good!
Garcia's goals.... all of them!!
Xabi's magic with the ball!
Jerzy's magic in the CL final!
Our superdupercalefrachelisticexpialidocious CL final triumph!!
Our taking care of chelsea in the semis!!
Lots and lots.... more please!!!

My highlight for the year has definately been the CL win and the home coming experience was imense.
Seeing the boys with the trophey after waiting outside the museum for 3 and a half hours was a truley emotional and moving moment in my life. As i said to my Daughter remember this day as you will never experience this again in your life. Even if we do win it again(which im sure we will) it wont ever be the same as the total euphoria that the day became. Fantastic!!

Moureen saying it wasnt a goal , ommiting of course that the ref said after the game that if he hadnt allowed the goal then he would of awarded a penalty and shown a red card to Cech the goalkeeper:D

On a personal note , im a signalman  on the line that runs from Liverpool to Euston station in London . I had the privlege of watching a very slow moving special train full of very degected and depressed Chelsea fans go past my signal box .
As im standing there , a few looked up  at me as im wearing my Liverpool away top with a very broad smile on my face , not only smiling  because we had beaten them that nite but also  because for some unknown reason .. coff.. their train was delayed  :eyebrow  :shifty

Just dropped in my head Morientes becoming mad in the Spanish radio while commenting the game of Liverpool in Istambul. He said Síiiiiiiiiii (laughs) which is quite strange, because that's very english, we don't say YES when we are happy in football. He just was completely full of Liverpool spirit. It could be noticed he loves Liverpool and being there. And I don't think this commitment is going to get smaller when time passes.

At some point a commentator joked with him, "Come on moro, put the shirt and jump to the pitch" (1)
And he just said, If only...

This guy deserves to be there. And he'll prove his a good goalscorer.

I have more memories, but I'm lazy and random, so I'll come back other day.

Likle everyone else Europan Glory has been the highlight of course,

but for me the last couple of months or so has shown many on here and out there why Benitez is the right man, Parry knows his stuff in making such an excellent appointment and what a great scribbler Paco is :D drawing away on his trusted clipboard.

I have watched this team steady itself, find itself, grow together, develop a team spirit and bond which is so powerful, you can touch it and all this in the space of 18 months, under the supreme guidance and watchful eye of Rafael Benitez.

We are becoming a force of quality, self assuredness and now as many of us expected, under his guile we are defo erking closer to winning the prize we have craved for 15 years.

Hail Rafeal Benitez and his fantastic Red amigos  :bowdown

P.S  - What no Lakes :D and Liamac that's a great story lurve it, keepy up the good work fella  :)

The game against Juventus was major as it was time to put old ghosts to bed, not that they are.
We made an appoligy which cannot bring them 39 people back that died, that game at Anfield meant so much for all the wrong reasons.
I hope bridges will be mended over time.
YNWA the 39 and 96.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

2005 has been a bástard of a year personally and i can only hope 2006 brings further recovery so i can walk properly again. The three highlights of my year have been the reemergence of my beloved Liverpool as a force again in Europe and domestically. The other was finding out my cancer had gone and the third being although i was around this forum in 2004,it was 2005 i made many friends on here and enjoyed many laughs along the way.
