my first post so go easy on me! iam a bit cyber virginal so no nasty comments boys!

ive heard what houllier has to say and i have a lot of time for him but we have been patient for long enough now i feel and its time for a new approach!

i dont think phil thompson is the answer either! we need fresh ideas and fresh blood to impliment them!

we have a big squad! we have big ambitions now lets get claudio ranieri while he feels unwanted at chelsea!

what does anyone else think?

I really like Ranieri but his not the best option (besides his staying at chelsea-I hope) his not the best option because we should judge him on his time at Chelsea before Abramovic.
I wouldnt really want any manager outside of Britain.
The best option (in my opinion) is O'Neill.

Although I do like Ranieri mostly because of the way he is treated by the media. Also Im glad chelsea they beat arsenal (in the CL) mainly because of him (he cried he was so happy). I hope he stays at Chelsea he loves the club and what do Kenyon or Abramovich expect theyre 2nd and might win the CL you cant fire him now after such a good season.

Anyway this is about the Liverpool manager
simply Houllier out and Martin ONeill in. :)

would martin oneill want the job mate? i think he's waiting for ruddy cheeks to jack it in with the mancs and coming to anfield might be second choice for him! i wouldnt want that!

ranieri could become a god up here! the squeaky voice is brilliant, we could get stevie gerard and danny murphy to give him english lessons mate!

tell you what mate that cluadio is a bit of allright! i wouldnt mind filling me wellies full of custard and bending over for him! that tanned european look does it for me!! :D

seriously though mate oneill has ambitions elsewhere, ranieri has been let down by chelsea and would welcome the chance at the greatest club in football history!

this squad could win the title mate! if all other 19 clubs agree to stand still while we hoof a long ball up to owen or promise not to breathe in emile's direction in case he falls over or agree not to tackle kewell cos he never tracks back! he has his hands on his hips more often that the council workers who dug up the road near our grans house! :(

I believe they actually have a big chance if only Houllier to be replaced
I have a strong belief that it's not about the players skill/ability but psychology factor

sorry mate it is soley about talent and skill we don't have it with a few exceptions. Kewell has it when he can be arsed, Owen is obviously class and SG is the only one putting it in week in week out. This squad would struggle to win division one never mind the premier league.

I have sympathy for Ranieri, the way he has handled the situation at chelsea has been real class. However I'm not sure I would want him at our club, he does "tinker" too much. (my attitude is always play your best 11 if they are fit)
I go along with the majority (?) O'Neil for our next manager, if we can get him. :)

woof woof i understand that you and others think oneill is a great manager and iam sure he is but do you want us to become a stop gap for the mancs? we would be a laughing stock! imagine he takes the job here in june and old ruddy cheeks pace maker fails in september and the mancs come running? what would happen? are you prepared for people to come here and take the p#ss whenever they feel like it? :(

am i the only one who thinks we made a mistake signing kewell? yes, he's a quality player but there's times he obviously can't be bothered, usually in the big games when we need him most. take the arsenal game, he did well enough first half when we we're on top, but in the second half when we needed him to put the effort in he stood around and didn't try to get involved. no wonder riise's had such a bad season, he's had no cover from the posing aussie, been caught out of position a few times and lost his confidence. to be honest i think we we're better off without him.

First off , I don't think O'Neil is a great manager. I think he is our best option if available. But he does have great potential.

Secondly, I think you underestimate the mans character if you think he would do a runner to ANY club after just a few months of starting a 4 to 5 year contract with us.

Thirdly, if I am wrong and he is a total mercernary why would he go to Man U ?. Am I suffering a total memory loss ? I don't see any previous connection between O'Neil and Man U. Are you suggesting that any mgr we have would leave us to join them ???? ????

It took a lot of persuading to get O'Neill to leave Leicester even though he obviously knew he'd never go particularly far with them. Scumbag Leeds were chasing him for ages when they thought they were moneybags but he had the good sense to f##k them off. Spurs were sniffing round him with promises of a big pay deal and money to spend. Finally Celtic after much persuasion managed to get their man.

Based on that evidence I don't think he's the kind of man to turn around and desert us after a season if indeed he does come to Anfield.

your both making good arguements woof woof and woolyback (nice username) but lets not kid ourselves!

firstly why did oneill turn down leeds? they did have money (albeit borrowed) and a chairman that wasnt afraid to splash it! even the fans (thick tw#ts) didnt know what that big nose fella was douing with his goldfish so how could oneill?

secondley why did oneill's contract at parkhead and ruddy cheeks old manc contract expire the same summer? coincidence?

thirdly why have ruddy cheeks and oneill both signed similar one year rolling deals?? coincidence?

fourthly (is that a word?) roy soft tw#t keane has made no secret of his desire to end his career at parkhead! what better sweetner to the celts than to have oneill go one way and keane go the other??

fifthly lets not fool ourselves about oneills loyalty track record! he left wycombe only months after signing a new deal for leicester then left leicester only months after signing a new deal for parkhead! why would we be any different?

oneill has his sights on old trafford lads and if you think different your fools! so when we look like c#nts i again ask you this? would you be happy with people from all over coming here to take the p#ss?

My sentiments exactly.
plus I think he would relish rebuilding the best club this country has ever seen above keeping the arrogant mancs afloat.
