It took Essien 3 days after the game to apologize for something he should had done during the game.

I'll be surprised if he gets anything more then a 3 game ban, purely because UEFA proably won't be allowed to take the tackle he made against Bolton (i think  ??? ) into account as that was a Prem match and they are only dealing with the champs lge in this case.

No matter what he gets maureenho is bound to have a go at UEFA and they'll probably back down and reduce his punishment to a big fine as they always do seein' as how they are useless feckers.

UEFA = Useless European Feckers Association.

I like the way that the NRL (National Rugby League) in Australia deals with suspension. If you are suspended say for 4 matches, you miss 4 matches whether it be club, state representation or international matches. This means that the longer you are suspended, the longer that the club does without the player, and the player loses match fitness (pretty fair if they have injured a player that ends up missing a few games).

Apply this system and suddenly Chelsea are without Essien for Prem as well as CL.
You'll never walk alone.

Anyway.. we will accept the apology. But yet will punish him based on his admision.

Dont rely on mourinho to teach him how to lie he's not the first teacher of fair play and you can check his reaction vs wigan

To be honest, I think a rule should be put in place along these lines: Should an injury arise from a foul, then the tackler will be suspended until the injured player makes his comeback. (A minimum of 3-match ban though, incase it's a terrible foul but not injury-causing.)
If it's a career-ending injury, the b*stard who caused it shall miss the entire season.

Lando, thats justa  little harsh... lets rememebr that football is still for now a physical game. it was a horror tackle and a suspension should be placed, but stay out for as long as the opponent is stupid. All that you would do is play a fringe player whos injured, ait for him to be tackled then sideline him for 3 months.

plus we have a few hard tacklers ourselves. I like hard tackles, i make them when i play and the odd cut lip or gashed head is part and parcel (of sunday league football at least)

the fact is that essien was not going for the ball, he went for the player and a 3 match ban is the minimum he should get

I meant if it's a foul, not if they get the ball first.

UEFA just confirmed he has been handed a 2 match ban, so he misses both the Home And Away legs of the last 16. Not enough quite frankly. Lets just hope they draw Barcelona

What an absolutely pathetic punishment.
What if he'd snapped Hamann's leg in two? Would they have given Essien a lollypop?

Spineless cowards.
