No disrepect Ivor and the rest who've said similar, but I seriously hope our team is above that kind of behaviour.  Here we are on one hand condemning Essien and on the other saying "it's alright - we'll break his leg next time we play him" - double standards?

Come on guys how could you respect any player who intentionally goes out to injure some one else.

I hope Essien gets his deserved 3 match ban and we rise above it play professional, hard but fair football (we currently have the fourth lowest number of fouls in the league).

I'm not saying anything about breaking Essien's legs - there are plenty of clean tackles made every week which take the wind out of a player's sails.  :D

Do any of you remember many seasons ago when Liverpool played Southampton in a cup game , i think one of the Liverpool players had something happen to them (Paul Walsh?) it was an incident with Mark Dennis if i remember rightly and in the return game a Liverpool fan ran on the pitch and spanked Mr.Dennis. This whole Essien Business reminds me of that. I'm Not encouraging Vigilante justice but.......

Tackles are part of football but a tackle like this could had ended Hamann's career:

He did the same thing against bolton and got away with it from the fa. A few weeks later and he commits another horrendous, potentially career threatening tackle. UEFA should make an example of him. A heavy fine and a 6 match ban should fit the bill.
Steve Gerrard Gerrard,
He'll pass the ball 40 yards,
He's quick and he's f*cking hard,
Steve Gerrard Gerrard.
