TRUST ME THERE IS NO COUNTRY PROTECTION AT ALL, ive said that at least 5 times (had to say 5 times has such a lovely ring to it)!

Bav how is it possible for country protection to be given to the team in 1st place but not the team in 2nd place, does that mean 1st cant get a team from its own country but 2nd can but the only way 2nd could play a team from there own country the other team would have had to finish 1st, thus a 1st place team playing someone from there own country.

Basically you are saying that Arsenal who finished top cant get chelsea, but Chelsea who came 2nd could get Arsenal who came 1st.

Doesnt make much sense does it??

Man Utd would be the only English team we could face.

so my original point was right then  :D

Lille,Rangers,Werder Bremen/Udinese,PSV would be nice.

From those, I'd rather avoid PSV.

Found themselves playing route one football after failing to break down a committed organised defence.Chelsea still have a lot of lessons to learn if they want to win the European Cup.Robben and Duff were neutralised,Essien resorted to thuggery, and as for bringing on Cole ???

From bbc...

Mourinho: "I did see Mohamed Sissoko's tackle on Eidur Gudjohnsen and that was a bad one, a very high challenge."

He added: "I was telling the Liverpool bench that they were crying all the game. They needed to sit down a little bit and relax.

"With me referees are always very strong and quick to put me in my place. But other managers can do what they want.

"For example if Jose Mourinho had done what Stuart Pearce did against Blackburn, it would have been a three-month ban for me."

He added: "Our disappointment is not at finishing second in the group, it is at not winning the game because I want to win every match.

"When you are second you know you have to play big teams and the first leg is at home, but we are just disappointed at not winning.

He's such a bell-end. :D

A job well done tonight and without Alonso who as we all know can buy and sell Lampard and makes such an habit of outplaying the over rated Fat Frank :D

The ever impressive Dietmar and Sissoko the raw taent was enough to nullify Lampard. Aside from Gary Neville there is no more over rated player in the prem than the lardy lad.

Chelsea resorted to the tactics they employed against Bayern last season but this tactic was food and drink to the league's meanest defence of late  :p

The only team I fear in Europe at present are Barcelona and we can't face them in the next round. Chelsea meanwhile may draw AC, Inter or Barca....happy days :D

I can seriously see us making the final again this year. Over two legs there's no-one we incapable of beating.

agreed...i was so :censored: off with our lack of ambition...at home in a situation where if we lose it doesnt matter.

your team is so well organised in defence that if a team really wants to beat you they have to either score early, get lucky or just go for broke.

the only teams i can remember that really broke you down under rafa are milan and arsenal.

both of those sides play 2 strikers....thus it seems only fair to assume they only way to beat you is to go for it which plays exactly into your hands as you are at your best on the counter.

Still cant believe the fat lad came second in European player of the year.I imagine the people who vote for these things only get to see the one shot in ten he gets on target.Chelsea have been found out.Give it to Robben and Duff...if that fails, give it to fat Frank to try a speculative effort from thirty yards....and if that fails, bring on the big man up front and try a bit of route one football.Mourinho, tactical genius?...My ar.se  :D  :D

one defence of frank is his numbers and consistency.

well you cant argue with the numbers, and you cant argue with the consistency with which he produces crucial assists or goals...but as far as consistent overall performances he has had many poor patches including the majority of games this season.

Lampard recently eclipsed the record for most consecutive premiership appearances held by David "Calamity"James so consistency hardly says a lot about ability does it :D

The reality is that yes Lampard does score his fair share of goals but when you take away the penalties and his inability to match true midfield artistry demonstarted by the likes of Alonso, Gerard and more recently ( i.e. tonight) Sissoko he is left wanting.

Chelsea have the ability to consistently beat the lesser clubs in the Prem but as 2 draws against Arsenal last season,a loss against Man U this season and 4 failed attempts to beat LFC in Europe you are quickly finding out that to win at the very highest level you have to be better than the opposition players and Lampard patently is not. Chelsea are indeed the better team but no way is Frank as good as at least half a dozen midfielders in the prem and 2 dozen more in Europe :p
