Good result, although thankfully Sunderland did not have the quality to match their hearts and efforts, especially after we were reduced to ten men.

Harry Kewell should take note, how much less talented players play their hearts out, and he also should take a leaf out of Garcia's efforts to help out at both attacking and defending.

And Sissoko misses 3 games now Rafa should have dragged him off once he got booked.
Still its an improvement on last season.
Im delighted with the 3 points and 4th place but job not over yet.

can't believe Sissoko, was warned by referee before the red card incident, really put the team under pressure in the last 15mins...Rafa should've seen that and sub him...that's why we need a solid backup like Hamann who could just slot in flawlessly.

Thought Crouch should definately got his penalty and with Gerrard and Riise both having hit the post, we should've won with a bigger margin...great result nevertheless  :wwww

Very surprising that Rafa did not sub Sissoko after he got because he has been getting his tackles wrong all night.

yeah, move Gerrard back to the centre, Kewell on the left and Garcia on the right...we would still keep the shape and in total control of the game

I would have liked to see Morientes subbed for pongolle in the second half. I think its important for him to get some game time under his belt cos if we loose Cisse in January, theres a chance that we won't replace him (after what happened in the summer). He is still young and i think he could be a very god player in the future. We should be careful to hold on to him.

Only one match surely for two bookings?

Thought Kewell was dreadful. Just when we needed all hands on deck

Yep your right.

Hamann in for Sissoko against Wigan.

I heard they'd scrapped the two weeks to appeal for a red card business.  Is this true?  If so, will Sissoko be banned for the Wigan game?

I thought the one for Garcia's was just as good, the way he swivelled, and put the ball through!  :buttrock

Ciggy - The first booking was his 5th of the season which makes it all the more remarkable that he was left on to add to the suspension period with a red.
In the post match interview Raffa said he'd spoken to the boy and thought he understood the situation but from where I was watching Sissoko looked like an idiot on a mission. Cannot fathom what the boy was thinking about !
