I don't agree that the league is sh##e, really.

The bottom to upper mid table teams are decent enough (obviously relatively speaking!) when compared to their counterparts in other European Leagues, and the top three are all great sides.

The big problem with this year's league is that the sides that are in 4th, 5th and 6th (i.e. those clubs who theoretically should be pretty good but slightly off the pace of the Championship) are in fact very mediocre (relatively speaking) and aren't much better than the mid table sides.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the top 3 sides, nor the mid table sides. The real problem is that Liverpool and Newcastle have been exceptionally poor this year, and instead of having the 4th and 5th teams hoovering at the high 50s points at this stage, Liverpool and Newcastle have been languishing in the high 40s.

I don't think the league has been bad this season and the likes of Fulham, Middlesboro, Villa and Birmingham probably compare favourably with their counterparts in Spain and Italy, but the failings of Liverpool and Newcastle, in my opinion, gives the impression that the Premiership is weaker than it is.

I mean, Man UTD and Chelsea have lost to the likes of Charlton, Boro, Fulham, Southampton, Wolves etc, but the likes of Newcastle and Liverpool haven't performed that well against the big three.

If the fourth and fifth sides have been "exceptionally poor" then the teams below them can't be very good and that runs right down to the bottom. That we are fourth having lost 10 games is a joke

All things are relative, Owzat. I mean "exceptionally poor" in comparison to previous seasons' 4th and 5th placed teams. I honestly don't think the mid table sides are too bad in comparison to other years and in comparison to their equivalent in other European leagues, but the teams challenging for the CL spot are simply not as good as previous years.

Realistically Newcastle and Liverpool should have around 58 or 59 points each at this stage of the season and there should be a bigger gap between 6th and 10th place, but there isn't.

I think this is more of a relative weakness in Liverpool and Newcastle rather than a weakness in the likes of the Fulham or Birmingham.

Add to this his ability to compete against much higher funded teams and the ability to balance the books. i think the time is right for AC to step up into a prestige position and i'm not talking SPURS !!LOL

Don't agree,
A successful managerial career at Charlton does not make him ready to take on the mighty task that is LFC.
At Charlton no major stars or ego's to deal with.
No real expectation from the fans
No experience of europe
We may as well go for John Aldridge........lol  :D

I agree about no expectations and no europe experience.

But i think the way he dealt with parker when he said he wanted to leave was outstanding. He had the balls to say ok you don't want to play for this club then you can train on your own and your out of the team.

Maybe if GH had some of his balls some of the current players that clearly only want to pick up the weekly pay check rather than give 100% for the reds would have been left go along time ago. I just think Liverpool as become a soft touch, the player know that even if they F**K up they be given the backing of Spinless GH.

Not sure if Parker actually said he didn't want to play for charlton. He did say he would like the opportunity to play for a bigger club and improve his england chances.
His manager got the hump because the board couldn't wait to get their hands on some of chelsea's cash.
Maybe I missed something  ???
ps what about Aldridge  :D  :D  :D  (kidding)

I wouldn't say "fan" but he would be my choice. Think his management skills are top notch when it comes to getting the best out of his players. It's nice to see a mgr showing real passion instead of looking as though he's just p*ssed himself.

I'd love to see Martin O'Neil at anfield

but to be honest i can't see GH going anywhere soon. I think he'll be there next season and i have a feeling that he might just surprise everone and pull things together!!!!!!

Didn't it take the red nosed alco at manure more this long and at this time wasn't everyone calling for his head?

There i go again off sat at the table next to GH in fairyland...:) :p
