Cisse not worried

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I'd be sorry to see Cisse go in january. I'd much sooner have another striker to come in and play alongside him. He's the only striker we've got that's capable of scoring goals - and the stats prove it.
There must be more to this situation - whether his attitude is bad in training, he's not getting on with Rafa, or he's not getting on with team-mates. Something is happening that Rafa is not happy about.

What bothers me is I just can't understand what we saw in him that merited a £14m pound transfer. It's all very well saying he is our leading goalscorer but how many goals has he scored against the top sides? It seems like we paid top dollar for a player who isn't the finished article yet and doesn't seem to suit our managers tactics. God knows what Rafa could have done with that £14m.

I really hope that he comes good but to me he doesn't seem to be interested in anything which isn't laid on a plate for him. His control is also terrible for any footballer let alone one who came so highly rated and at such a high cost. Again, i really want him to succeed and i'll give him my support as long as he plays for us, i'm just so frustrated with him and had to get a few things off my chest.

Just out of interest, how much did Eto'o cost as they were both transfered at the same time and we had been interested in both before we signed Djibril. ???

Its his attitude on the pitch more than anything, hes lazy and arrogant, he is capable of being crowd favourite if he wants but he just seems to expect to be popular without having to work for it.

I agree with Big Niall. We had a chance to buy a striker who scores goals consistently but we didn't. We would have lost £9m on the deal which to me is not much really when you think of the money we have wasted on far worse players.

The main problem with Cisse is he's NEVER happy.

When he's left out he whinges.
When he plays out of position he whinges.
When he gets a start and is subbed he whinges.
Let him go out on loan and he'll still whinge.
He's £14m of whiner.

Ok he's scored a few goals but he doesn't seem to have developed the creative side of his play for someone who purports to 'admire and study' Thierry Henry. We need someone in with Crouch's good attitude but with a goal-scoring pedigree (and no i'm not going to mention you know who). :D

The ideal player would be Fernando Torres but he'd cost way too much. :(

Theres 1 striker we could get in january, who isnt cuptied would cost around 5 million at most, has always scored goals, and given a full season in a team in ares, has the ability to get 20 goals a season, imo, and hes only 25, some people might have a question about his attitude but the only time you hear him moan is when he isnt playing and i think thats a good think wanting to play all the time, his name if you havent already guessed is Robbie Keane, Im a massive fan and dont know what anyone else thinks but i think he could be a great signing for us, he would suit playing alongside Crouch or Mori and has a hell of a lot more talent than Cisse

If Cisse was to go, he would be my choice, and we would have plenty of money left for other players.....

Would anyone else go for him if Cisse was to go??

I've seen Robbie Keane for years and Spurs is his level. He is good enough for the premiership but not for a top team. He is not an out and out goalscorer. Would probably score a goal every 3 games (not enough for a striker)

Tottenham dont plan to sell and anyway Keane was rumored to be going to Everton so why would we want him. Hes not good enough for us. I think Cisse is a good striker but he doesnt seem to fit the mentalitywith the rest of the team. I never hear about Morientes or Crouch whinging or Garcia for that matter becasue their all team players who like to play their part whenever possible not whining when theri on the bench. Im getting to the point where im starting to think we should sell him whilst clubs are intersted in him, I think if we can agree a deal for another good proven stiker (namely Dirk Kuijt) then lets go and get him before Chelsea get him. Cisses beahviour is nothing less thank childish at times and the day thing is should he stay for the whole season he probabaly will hit over 20 goals as hes already half way. We all forget that at 23 hes still pretty young and im sure is very ungry but he needs to understand that he cannot play all the time. Unless he shows these qualities to Rafa between now and December i think you can say goodbye to Djibril Cisse and make no mistake Rafas no fool and im sure should he decide to sell then he will already have a replacment in the wings waiting.

Everton wanted Kuyt, owen, parker and emre, does it make them less of a player  because everton are linked with them? Keane isnt good enough, ok then tell me why, dont just write that, ive said why i fell hes good enough and dont tell me its cos he plays for Spurs, tell me honestly why Robbie Keane isnt good enough to pull on a liverpool shirt, someone else said he only scores a goal every 3 games, its a better strike rate than any player currently at the club, for 5 mil you cant argue with that. Id love us to get him and would be gutted to see him in a blue shirt.

Arsenal - Kuyt to fly to rivals? :(

Arsenal target Dirk Kuyt has revealed that he could be set to snub the Gunners and has revealed he is 'eager' to join Tottenham, following conversations with his Dutch team-mate and Spurs midfielder Edgar Davids.

The two north London clubs have been at the forefront of the race to sign the 25-year-old forward, with Wenger having watched the Feyenoord striker in eredivisie action earlier in November.

However, it looks like Martin Jol has the advantage over Arsene Wenger, thanks to Davids' intervention.

Kuyt had earlier this month suggested he was likely to remain in Holland for at least this season to ensure his selection in the national squad for the World Cup in Germany.

But now, it appears that Davids' powers of persuasion may have convinced the former Utrecht forward that his immediate future lies in England.

Kuyt revealed, "During the last training camp with Holland I had long talks with Edgar. He said that Spurs are a fantastic club. If Edgar says it, I believe every word.

"He has made me very curious and eager to join them."

TBH i actually also think Keane would be a great signing, he has been messed around by Spurs...in and out of the team but he is a very clever player that links well with the midfield and scores plenty of goals.

His record for the ROI (who dont generally create many chances) is great.

I would also like to see Ashton at Anfield, the lad is already class, he still young and would develop a lot under Rafa, also like others have said he would cost peanuts considering he's a born goal scorer. :)

Robbie Keane is an interesting option IMHO. I personally just about go along with the "he ain't good enough for us" argument, though without any great degree of conviction. The truth is he's never fulfilled his talent and promise as a footballer. Infact he probably played his best football when playing alongside Niall Quinn for Eire which once again makes me think that maybe, just maybe he might be the one to play alongside Crouch. I dunno, gonna sit on the fence here and say that if we can pick him up for about 4-5 mill', he might, just might be worth a look.

Id love him here.I think he is good enough for us and what i love best is his attitude. He certainly wouldnt do us any harm. How many times have we seen so called great players come here and flop ala Collymore and under rated players come and fit perfectly. Keen on Keane.
The big dutch fella,Kyut or whatever ,Ive seen him play a few times and boy is he slow.Ian Dowie with a mask on. I know hes obviously a talented player so maybe there a lot better to come.
